Can you get DirectTV without a land line?
We are trying to cut costs and have canceled our land line to use our cell phones exclusively. The DirectTV pricing seems much more competitive than Comcast but my interpretation of the web site says I need a land line.

No. I have DTV an have never pluged it into a land line..it needs a land line if you want to see pay per view (rent a movie if you dont know what it is).....but even if you do not have a land line you can still call and order a movie (+1.50 for "service over phone" cheaters)....but other than that you do not need one to watch tv

It is just needed for pay per view purchases and I have installed a couple without a telephone hookup.
