Doesn't the case of Nataline Sarkisyan display why Edwards is right about Corporate Interests in Government?

Nataline Sarkisyan was a 17 year girl who lived in California. She had leukemia and under the direction of her doctors had a bone marrow transplant from her brother. Complications from the transplant caused her liver to fail. Her doctors agreed that she had a 65% chance for success with the liver transplant.

A matching liver was found, the operation was scheduled and then CIGNA denied the transplant (twice). The family and her community rallied for her in front of the CIGNA headquarters and finally were told that CIGNA would allow the operation but by that time it was too late and Nataline died.

The story has been on the national news and after Edwards discussed it during the Iowa Caucus (Clinton mispronounced the girls first name as Natalie) was contacted by the Sarkisyan family. They spoke at an Edwards rally (which I attended) this afternoon.

American citizens should not be turned away in the USA from healthcare because they are unable to pay, period. That should NEVER happen in the richest country on Earth. Illness doesn't care if you are rich or poor, it can strike anyone at anytime, people shouldn't be financially ruined because they get a life threatening illness let alone left to die.

I hate to think we have become so overrun by a greedy few who get to say who lives and who dies simply because of money....it's very maddening and sad.

This a tragic example of how people think they are covered by an insurance company and then find out otherwise during a crisis. Liver transplant was a covered item, but CIGNA denied it anyway. CIGNA didn't want to pay for the aftercare and thought they could get away with denial. CIGNA should pay dearly. Money will not give that poor girl another chance. But America needs to send a message to health insurance companies that they will be libel for wrongful death lawsuits if they act irresponsibly.

Edwards has a lot to say, too bad he's being drowned out by Clinton and Obama. If they were to hold the presidential vote today, I would vote for Edwards.

#1) CIGNA sucks- ask the majority of people in the medical profession or even those who have had them as an insurance provider.

#2) Edwards is rich enough to have her taken care of but decided to parade her around to propagandize it. Considering we paid for his haircut...

#3) California is the most liberal state in the country...if she got denied there, and you want to apply that same philosophy to the rest of the nation, arent you prescribing the same pill that made her sick?

    yes

I thank God I live in Canada, she should have come here as soon as she was diagnosed, they might have sent her a bill afterwards for not being Canadian, but they would treat her first

That is only one case out of thousands, but we do not need another dishonest lawyer as our President, Bill Clinton already tarnished the Whit House and he was a Lawyer until he was disbarred for lying under oath.
