Using a Groomsman's Gift after the Divorce?

What are the rules about using a gift you received as a bridesmaid or groomsman after the married couple has gotten a divorce? Can you still use it? My fiance received an engraved glass for being in a friend's wedding, and he can't remember which of the four engraved glasses came from his friend that is now getting a divorce. Should we pitch all four (at the risk of hurting one of the other three) or just continue to use it and hope the divorcing friend doesn't notice. FYI: if it matters, the friend was married for less than 1yr.

If you can avoid using them when the friend is around that would probably be good. I don't think he would be offended, because it was a gift for your boyfriend. And a gift is a gift, even if things ended badly.

But it might bring up bad thoughts about his divorce, so it would just be nicer to not remind him of how it didn't work out.

A gift is a gift is a gift. Doesn't matter what situation the giver is in now the gift is your husband's to keep and to use as he sees fit. Doesn't matter how long the couple were married, they gave our husband a GIFT, without "strings" attched, did they say "Okay you can have this gift but if we split up you can't use it ever again"?

It was a gift to him, use it as you wish. I would avoid using it when they are around.

I wouldn't use any of them when that friend is around.
