Any good tips for improving daughter's batting?
My daughter has played softball for 10 years now,I don't want to sound to proud but she is the best ball striker I have seen out of the many girls I have seen play. She has never batted below 500 and has struck out less than 10 times in her whole career, and she always takes the first pitch. Many oppossing coaches have commented on her ability to fight off good pitches and really have paid her and her coaches nice compliments.
However she started j.v. last year and was batting .640 until she was kicked off the team for low grade point average. It was a good thing though because she learned a good lesson.
My concern is because of her lost season time, and in a more competative enviroment, what would be a good way to sharpen her batting skills.
I understand her numbers may be good, but she is a power hitter yet drives alot of grounders and low line drives.I want to see her correct this. She usually bats 3 or 4th but sometimes fails to move runners like she should because of the aforementioned results.
She wants me to take her to batting cage, but i was interested in other remedies.

Good Question.
I want to get better at hitting, just like everybody else.
But what you should do, since you would rather not go to the cages is try the mental side of hitting. I'm sure she has a good understanding of the strikezone, being a power hitter, and sometimes she is ahead of the count, and swings at bad pitches.
It happens to all of us. Tell her to have a plan when she goes up to the plate, and heres what it should be.
1st pitch- DO NOT swing at the pitchers pitch, have a pitch in your mind that you would rather hit than any other pitch. Mine is a fastball inside. After you know what pitch you want. Cheat a little. I step barely out first pitch incase i get my inside fastball, i can crush it.
2nd pitch- If your down in the count. Look for any strike. If you foul a ball off, its just as good as swinging and missing, or looking at the strike, so be aggressive 2nd pitch.
If your down in the count, 0-2, keep fighting balls off until you get a good pitch, simple.
If your even, 1-1, 2-2, Look for the best possible strike
If your up, 2-0, 3-1, look for your pitch again, just like the 1st pitch.
Theres a book out there called the "Science of hitting" by Ted Williams. Great mental book. maybe a birthday present.

like you said she takes first pitch. try to have her swing on first pitch and be agressive. tel her to keep her head in and go over all the basics. trigger when the pitcher is in her windup. she probably knows this but me having first hand expeiriences missing a whole season due to knee surgery you dont forget what to do but your swing is just not all there. it might take a couple weeks for her to get her swing back but she will get in the groove again after a little time.

What u can do is go to a park or somthin (when its not cold of course) and pitch to her...let her try to hit the ball...Or u can lets her practice swinging the bat to be a better and sronger hitter so she wont get ground balls... try other fun stuff

Pratice, Pratice, Pratice, that is what toy have to do if you want to become better at something, no matter what it is. You don't just get godd without pratice. But it sounds like she is pretty good already, so why do you even want to make her even better?
