how do you pierce your own septum if all you have is a safety pin and a straight 14g barbell?

i've wanted a septum piercing for almost a year now and i've been doing most of my piercings myself. is there anyone who has any advice on how to pierce it myself safely? if youre going to tell me not to do it, please dont even bother. anyone who has real advice on how to do it, i would appreciate it. thnx

    DON"T use a safety pin!!!!!!!

it's not the same gauge and plus it'll hurt more.

    I pierced my own septum.

If you really need a piercing needle I'll send you one of my unused ones for free. But here are some sites where you can buy one of your own for like a buck each.

I also have septum clamps I don't need anymore lol

Sterilize your septum, needle and jewelery. Feel for the gap in between your cartilage in your septum pick a spot along that vertical gap aka the sweet spot high up (it hurts less up there) then pierce it with your needle MAKING sure it's straight, not angled cuz that leads to a crooked piercing. Depending on what your comfy with go slow or fast, either way you MIGHT feel faint. Slide the needle through towards the end then line up the jewelry to the back of the needle and push it through using the jewelry. If you don't trust yourself, let the needle fall to the floor the important part is getting the needle out by pushing in the jewelry. Then close if you have to or in my case swing the retainer around and flip it up.

Clean up the small amount of blood and begin Sea salt soaks twice daily for healthy healing.

    Sea Salt soak:

    8oz hot-warm water

1/4 tsp Sea salt or table salt

Stir together until dissolved. dip in q-tip,cotton square or cotton ball, and apply to septum piercing on both sides for at least 10 mins the first time and 5-10 mins for all other soaks

The spot where you pierce it is the soft spot above the cartilage in your nose. I'm not even going to tell you not to do it because you won't be able to. The spot is too high up to be able to apply any sort of pressure near sufficient enough to go through your skin. You would need piercing pliers and a much thinner ring. I had mine done in October and even the guy that worked at the tattoo parlor had trouble straightening out the barbell. I ended up taking it out a few months later anyway. Get it professionally done. If you want to try at home first, go for it. But in the end you're going to need someone to do it for you.

I pierced my septum with a stick and a vine. I just shoved the stick through and put the vine in. Yes i may have had to get surgery to stop the infection from killing me but atleast now i look cool.

oK So duedi pierced my septum about a week ago with a sewing needle. i sterilized it and then i found a gap of SKIN in between the cartalige and the and bottom of your nose. DO NOT pierce the cartalige! find the spot where you want it and just take a deep breth and push the needele in through. it hurt like a ***** but it was well worth it. clean it with alchol and hydrogen poroxide. i reccomeng a 14G needle. i love it and i know how you are. i do all my piercings myself to dued. have fun lol/

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE A SAFETY PIN. If you dont know what you are doing , you will hurt yourself very badly w/ nerves and blood vessels. Go get it professionally dnoe, i'm begging you.

Don't do it. It WON'T fit! I tried that with my belly button - didn't work and left a nasty scar!

ok heres what you do dude my buddy does piercings

go to hot topic or any piercing shops and get your self a hollow needle they are rather cheap and get some sanitizer for it you will be able to reuse the needle and do all your piercing safely

do not pierce someone else without letting them know its a used needle you can get in serious trouble if you dont tell them
