using a gas fireplace will save more money on electric bill... Since it uses gas and NOT electricity...

We use a wood burning stove fireplace insert... We get FREE wood from where my husband works... We do save quite a bit on our gas/electric..

Other ways to save on the energy bill... Unplug ANY unused appliances.. .Like on the kitchen counter.. If it's things you use but not all the time.. Like cell phone, laptop chargers etc.. put them on a power strip and flip the switch off when NOT in use..

Switch to enegy saving lightbulbs each one you change can save you as much as $30-$60 per year...

Turn your heat down to 63-65 degrees at night OR when you are NOT home...

check windows/doors for gaps and fill with weatherstripping...

Seal off heat registers for rooms NOT in use....

    Good luck

Gas is cheaper to run and more efficient (BTUs per dollar) but electric is cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
