West Side Story Characters?

Does anybody know why Tiger got his name in West SIde Story. Links would be helpful.

    If there's a character named Tiger, and I certainly don't remember one, he's such a minor Jet that it doesn't matter how he got his name.

    Reminds me of the scene in Animal House, where Larry asked why his secret Delta name was "Pinto", and Bluto answered "Why not?"

    Ummm I've been in West Side Story and don't recall any character named Tiger.

    I don't remember "Tiger" specifically either. If you want to get an appreciation of "WSS", read "Romeo and Juliet", by that old, very dead English guy.
