Any risks with working night shift?

I work two jobs, 9-3 and 4-9 and I was thinking about getting a third. It's not that I need money or anything, I just want something to do after work. I end up sitting around being bored watching reruns and commercials. I don't go to sleep until about 2 a.m., sometimes later, and wake up naturally (without an alarm) usually around 8 a.m., sometimes I wake up as early as 6 a.m. Are there like any health risks, whether it's physical or mental, working 3 jobs back-to-back-to-back?

Update:

I have a social life on the weekends. Like me, my friends work and tend to their families. I do have weekends off and see my friends then and I get to see my daughter every other, but she’s not even a month old so ain’t much I can do, don’t get me wrong I do enjoy seeing her. I try to do hobbies and stuff but, I get bored with everything so quick. My mom steals my dog during the day and when I get home he is all played out and sleeping, plus he is lazy and usually sleeps all day anyway. I started going out to bars and clubs, but that only ended up with me getting drunk on a daily basis and being a manwhore. No matter what I do, I can't seem to go to bed before 2. I tried sleeping pills and they had the opposite effect and I was up for 3 days straight. What other ideas are there?

I have seen this on the news about 2 months ago. Studies have shown that people who work at night or who do not sleep well at night double their chances of getting cancer and other serious diseases. Your body has a biological clock that tells you that you need sleep every 12 hours or so. If you don't need the money then don't do it. It's not worth ruining your health. It sounds like you may be bored. Find a hobby after work that you can enjoy like going to the gym with a friend or walking the dog. Also, like I mentioned before, its not healthy to sit around at night. You should be sleeping not watching reruns and commercials. Studies have also shown that watching tv does not help a person get to sleep. In fact it makes the person more awake. So please do yourself a favor, and find something enjoyable after work and go to sleep around 10pm. You will feel better!

I would suggest taking up a hobby instead. Lack of sleep and over working can reek havoc on your physical and mental health. Find something to do that is stimulating so that you don't get bored.

Your life sounds a bit unbalanced. Why not find something, other than a third job to satisfy you? Otherwise you're going to get major major burnout? Think about what you like to do. Maybe a hobby? Go back to school?

I read in Times that working through the night raises the risk of cancer because of a lack of some chemical your body produces ONLY during the night while you sleep.

Yes there are risks. You will not only lose much needed sleep, but your social life will be nil. Why dont you just get rid of one of your current jobs and find one with longer hours, or ask your employer for more hours.

dont get another job unless you really need the money, find something more fun to do, go to a club, learn to dance, theres a billion things you could do

i also recomend the gym for nights after work, its hard to get started, but once you start going, you get very good feelings every time you go

Eleven hours plus travel time should be enough. Have you considered taking a class or joining a recreation center for the exercise?

I wouldn't suggest it. Sometimes the unseen effects on your body will amount and when you're older will take a serious toll on your health.

i think that is enough to work as it is! you will deprive your body of the sleep it needs, and you will get sick. Just stay with the 2.

    i wouldn't advise it!

eventually all the work is going to catch up with you.

    enjoy what you're doing now.

most people don't have that kind of free time.

and someday when you have more to do, you're going to wish for it back!
