World Of Warcraft Add ons?

I dont have any add ons for world of warcraft. I have a lvl 36 shaman on the horde side and some of the add ons look helpful for lvling. How do i add add ons? DO i need to mess with the settings or anything? Or the folders? Also, can you get in trouble for using add ons?

NO! you cannot get in trouble for useing addons =)

I get my addons from sites like wowinterface.com or cursegaming.com to install addons follow these steps...

Step 1: Download an addon from one of the sites.

Step 2: After download is complete extract the files.

Step 3: Highlight all the files that have been extracted and right click copy them.

Step 4: Find the drive on where you installed WoW.

Step 5: Click program files in that drive.

Step 6: Find your World of Warcraft folder.

Step 7: Click it then find your Interface folder and click that.

Step 8: Right click the Addons folder and paste in all the files u copyed before.

Step 9: Logon to WoW, and there should be a Addons option on the bottom left hand of your character screen enable those addons that you downloaded..

Hope this helps , explained it as simply as possible.

    Works for me.

Add ons are usually safe. HOWEVER, some of them are against the TOS created by Blizzard and you can get in trouble. (A good rule of thumb is if the add on is letting you do something that other players can't do, it's not permitted. An example is a mod that fishes for you because it doesn't require you to do anything and you still reap the benefits.)

The more add ons you put in your game, the slower the game will (potentially) run. So if you already experience a lot of game lag, I wouldn't recommend adding any add ons or limiting yourself to one.

Here's a pretty handy installation guide:

    http://home.comcast.net/~wrathofvengeance/Addons.h...

I have a shaman and don't use any class-specific add on. The add ons I find most helpful are Titan Panel (provides a coordinate system which follows coordinates listed on Thottbot so you can find a quest target or mob more quickly; keeps track of your durability, money, ammo, bag space, etc.) and Auctioneer (remembers how much you sell things for on the AH; scans it so you can find good deals with high resell values, etc.).

Keep in mind that if you download add ons, you'll have to update them most of the times that Blizzard implements a new patch; the add ons, if out of date, may (but not always) cause problems with your game or not work at all after a new patch.

You won't get in trouble for add ons but if you try to use too many of them sometimes your game can mess up forcing you to turn them off or reinstall.

No add-on is really going to help you level except for maybe a coordinates mod so you can find quest objectives easier.

I recommend these mods for general purpose awesomeness though...

    Atlas Loot

    Atlas

    Auctioneer

    Mobinfo2

    Koordinator

To add add-ons you simply download them and then extract the .zip or .rar file to the "add-ons" folder which you will find via World of Warcraft --> Interface --> Add Ons.

They should be turned on by default but at the character selection screen you can manage your add ons and turn them either on or off.

Open your World of Warcraft folder, there should already be a pre-maid folder named Interface (If not add it). Open it, create a folder named Add Ons, and put all downloaded Add Ons in it.

    Edit:

Also Add Ons are a very wide spread thing, encouraged so you can play with your kind of game style.

    and Map notes

There are some others that can change task bars, but I havent really found one that I like yet

a mod that can help you with quest is lighthead, it uses the wowhead search engine in game and points you in the right direction to finish quest, i would also suggest that you get the titan panel mod, it is useful in that it keeps track of certain things such as durability, gold and it gives you cords that you need to use lighthead with.
