Do regular grocery stores sell gluten and casien free foods?
I'm trying my son on the gfcf diet for a while, and was wondering if anyone had any information about these foods. Do I have to go to an organic food market or can I find these foods at a grocery store?

More and more grocery stores are trying to incorporate food for special needs diets into their selection in order to compete with the growing trend of shopping natural food markets. You will have to check with your local grocery store, but there's a good chance that even if they do have SOME, it won't be a huge variety. Your best bet would be to check Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.

It all depends on your grocery store. Some do and if you have a specific product, they will stock it maybe. Whole Foods, Wild Oats and Trader Joes do a pretty good job with what you are looking for or you can shop online. Check the celiac disease websites. Unfortunatley, some of the things are a lot better than others so don't order a lot of anything until you at least sample it in the smallest size. I like Pamela's cookies either premade or mixes. Glutino products are usually pretty good.

Just buy and consume natural whole foods, instead of packaged processed stuff, and you won't have to worry about gluten, hidden or otherwise. The best nutritional thing that I ever did was cut out almost all grain/cereal/flour foods over 25 years ago, opt for whole natural foods almost exclusively, and focus on eating more different veggies, nuts, seeds in the place of those grain/cereal/flour foods. Tremendous health boost (perfect health today, 8-9% body fat ratio), and I actually look 20 years younger than my 46 years. So much for the bought-and-paid-for myth of the essential, healthy 'whole grains'.

We shop at Wegmans which is located in PA, NY, & NJ. I'm not sure where else they are located. They mark all the items they manufacture as gluten-free if they are GF. We're GF but not casein free so I don't know what you need to look for there. They also have a nice GF section in their "health" section.
I've also noticed that Wal-Mart is marking it's products GF. I've heard our other local grocery store, Giant Eagle, has started marking their products, too.
It is much cheaper and easier to look for items that are naturally GF. Many manufacturers list GF items on their web-sites - see Hormel for example. I only buy items in the GF section when I have to: bread mixes, pasta, etc. I shop a lot in the Asian section because the rice noodles and rice crackers are cheaper there than in the GF section.

Depends on your area. Walmart clearly labels their foods gluten free if they are. (but not casein free)
Some grocery stores do carry a few GF/CF foods.
Whole Foods, Wild Oats and Trader Joes are better options if u can get to one
Otherwise, online is a graet place to shop
www.glutenfree.com
www.glutensolutions.com
www.kinnikinnick.com
These sites let u narrow your search by allergen.
www.amazon.com also has things in bulk once u know u like something.

you can find these foods at any larger grocery store. Ask a clerk to help you. There are several brands you can buy, that are gluten free.

I shop at Giant and I have seen gluten free foods in the specialty isle. I also know that some chinese food restaurants sell gluten free food.

most grocery stores have a small gluten free section.... just ask someone working and they will direct you... i live in a smaller community, about 50,000 and only one of our normal grocery stores has a section like this but I imagine in a larger comunity it would be more common. good luck.

Depends where you live. My neighborhood Ralph's has a lot of these foods but the best place to get them is Whole Foods.
