How to discharge static electricity?

I've been accumulating a horrific static electricity problem on my hairbrush, some of my clothes and also the blanket i wear on my bed. It's becoming a real hassle for me. I've tried discharging by placing the objects on metal objects but nothing has helped (i assume im doing it wrong).

Is there anything available in the home i can discharge these things on or do i need to insulate myself in a plastic box or something? It's driving me insane!

increasing the humidity in your homes will discharge the static buildup.

I had a hotel room that was really bad... would get shocked at night from the mattress frame... I turned the shower on hot and let the steam permeate the room and all the static charges subsided.

You can also get a humidifier, make sure to run it as instructed in the manual. I recommend the Steam humidifier, heats the water until it steams.

Static Guard spray works very nicely. Also, rubbing items with a dryer sheet works sometimes. As for hairbrushes, try running water over them and then letting them dry in an open area away from a heat source (heating vent, space heater, etc.)

Which brings up an interesting point: are you running a space heater in the room? Space heaters generate a lot of static electricity.

    Hi,

You can buy an anti static wristband quite reasonably( £4.99 from:

    http://www.itx-warehouse.co.uk/Product.aspx?Produc...

This link is for the UK, but I am sure there are companies in other countries which you can purchase the wristband from, should you not live in the UK.

A lot of people who work in an environment where there can be a lot of electo static build up, and where they must discharge it. The wristband is what they wear when they are working in that atmosphere.

It sounds to me like you could have am earthing problem in the house. I would get someone to check the electrics. The only reason otherwise is that you live in a nylon house with nylon furnishings.

I am being serious too, if one of your earth leads or rod has come disconnected this could cause that

please avoid as possible to discharge the static electricity through your body (wrist, arm, leg, etc.)

    it burns organic cells

of course they are replaced, but the older you are, the more difficult and longer to replace killed cells is.

Source(s): electricity is dangerous as it is all around us and most of us know/understand very little about it.
