What is a REAL biker?

Ok, from moped to hog, the squid to the maxi scooterist, How about the Solex people? Are they all real bikers, are there things that make a biker a biker?

How many cc's does it take to have a real motorcycle? How about dirt riders? Who are the real bikers in your opinion?

Be nice, we all ride, that is why we are here, or maybe not?

Update:

Hey Tigger! Liked that answer, and the having a bike to be cool is not me either. Keep it up, there are some good answers so far!

Update 2:

Scooter rider not biker? How about a scooter rider that can afford a Harley, trailered by a Rolls Royce, but chooses the scooter because it fits his riding parameters? Hypothetically speaking, or am I?

Look inward Grasshopper. If you feel you are a true biker then so be it. No one can tell you otherwise.

The person on the moped who doesn't get respect even from the motorcyclist sometimes, can be more of a true biker than the guy on the sportbike or the Harley.

He surely doesn't have anything to prove.

Coming from an entire family of bikers. I'm not really a fan of that term. I like to think of it as motorcyclists. When someone says biker I think Hell's Angels. Maybe that's why so many people want to use it to look tough. But I digress, we had a saying many years ago...

"It's not about what you ride, it's about putting it in the wind"

That pretty much seems to sum it up if you ask me. I've been on a Harley riding with guys on sport bikes, dirt bikes, even little Honda 250's. I can't say I've ever ridden with anyone on a scooter, but that's not to say I wouldn't. I ride so many different bikes myself that it really doesn't make any difference to me... it's not about what you ride.... :)

But it's also a mindset. I mean, most motorcyclists I know are probably some of the nicest people you could meet. Of course there's different schools of thought. I've actually been flipped off while waving to a passing Harley rider before. Only to run into him later while riding a Harley myself and he's all buddy buddy with me until I tell him "You know you flipped me off the other day...." That to me is more like a poser rather than a rider. Someone who's riding for the attitude rather than for the love of it. A true motorcyclists is doing it for the love of riding. They are the guys that you'll see riding in the rain (like I did today heh) and they'll usually have more than 1 bike since there isn't a single bike that can fit EVERY purpose.

a authentic biker is someone who rides a motorbike - any motorcycle and does no longer ought to justify it to every person. Why trouble about what every person else thinks? maximum human beings of bikers received't look down on every person on 2 wheels, so those who you experience are offering you with grief at the prompt are not authentic bikers. by technique of how I have a £10,000 Ducati, journey it daily of the week yet no matter if it changed into in effortless words on dry Sundays would that mean I wan't a authentic biker both? As I say a authentic biker does no longer ought to justify it to every person

Being a "real" biker is a lifestyle more than what you ride. It's having a great sense of pride in what you ride. As your bike is a direct reflection of your personna.

And,,,NO---you CANNOT be considered a biker if you ride a "scooter",,,,,no matter where you're from. And as far as dirt riders ,,that's just what they are,,"Riders",,not bikers. Most bikers ride bikes over 1000cc's and are "cruisers" such as Harley or Indian. But still,,,as I said,,it's not as much the bike as it is a way of life !!!!

Scooters, mopeds.and dirt bikes don't count under any circumstances. I don't care if anyone considers me a biker or not, I don't waste my time on such thoughts. I don't call people RUBS, Squids, Tools, or any of those strange names that seem to get tossed all over this section(mostly by people that are probably a combination of all). If it rains I drive my car. God gave me enough common sense to do that, and I'm not trying to impress anyone by riding in the rain. I've been riding Harleys for almost 35 years, I still haven't figured out what life style people keep talking about. It's just what I've been doing for as long as I can remember so I give it no extra thought. I like t ride with friends and family and sometimes we can only get together on the weekends so some people might call us "weekend warriors". I call it "working for a living" and that's the only time we can get in a ride together. I do all my own wrenchin' and a lot of everyone else's.

Anyway...I'll have to take your definition of a "real biker" because I've never given it much thought until you brought it up.

Being a "Biker" is a lifestyle. Most "Bikers" ride a Harley and believe in living free and independent of laws and the rules of society. Most people who consider themselves "Bikers" today, would not equal the "Bikers" of the past. Let's put it this way, if you ride a Harley, wear Harley T-shirts, a leather vest and chaps, you probably are not what I would consider a "Biker" Times have change and the term "Biker" has lost it's meaning.

someone who rides because they love to and respect fellow riders and motorists. The cc's size or style does not matter. Doesn't matter is its a scooter or motorcycle.

"gerry s" i hate to tell you this but scooter now of days can go over 500cc. I know, I own one that is 500cc and reads over 180 on the speedometer and I also own a harley fatboy. Trust me I have no problem keeping up.

A Real biker only rides a Chopper,Harley ,Honda ,Suzuki,Yamaha,Kawasaki or another brand of bike and only listens to Bob Seggar, Led Zeppelin. Hank Williams Jr ,Kid Rock or some other musician but never Barry Manilow. a Real Biker only rides on sunny days with 100% percent chance of rain , A real Biker willl take his time flying like hell to get to his distanation but stop to help out another biker even if he knows he aint got the part to help , A real Biker knows how many cc"s it will take to beat his own bike but will challenge ya anyways .And most of all a real biker Loves God his Country his bike and will defend them till the End
