Do I need to use a software firewall if I am using a wireless router?
I have been using Comodo Pro Firewall and I just connected a Linksys WRT54GR Router to my system and I was just wondering if I can uninstall the Comodo Firewall or if I should keep using it. Thanks.

if the router has nat/firewall enabled, you should be golden either way. But if you take your laptop other places than definitely have a firewall.
dont use built in windows firewall, its for placebo affect. use a third party one; comodo is excellent.
just remember ANY open ports are vulnerable, including p2p/bittorent.
For the "most" part, a physical intruder has to gain access to your wireless network before being able to mess with your computer. Virtual attacks; Root kits, RAT's [remote access trojans] other forms of malware, etc does not.
just to be safe, why not.
if your worried about performance loss... just think how well your pc will preform once its been overloaded with crapware.

You should keep the firewall in place for both threats that can come from the internet and to keep people from hacking your network from next door. People will drive around searching for wireless networks on their laptops and use it to do their own web surfing and to even steal information from you by connecting to the network like it's your own computer. It is also very smart to monitor connections to your network on your router to make sure only your computer is connected. Newer routers can send their signals out for dozens of feet in every direction so it is very easy for someone else to use your connection from outside your hose. In your router settings you can also reduce it's broadcast range to help reduce this risk.

You may keep using that firewall, its for safety reason. Not to mention, the anti-virus, anti-spywares and those security softwares. Keep your computer well protected in any ways.

Just to be safe, you should probably keep using it.
I have the same wireless as you, but I still keep all my protection in case.

Did you encrypt your wifi network? If yes, then consider the other software as part of your security system.
If you didn't, then it is all the security you have and you should consider continuing to use it.

keep the firewall to keep your computer protected, the router won't protect your computer from hackers.

You should always use one just in case. You dont want anyone to hack into your system. Wireless of not you don't want to leave your system unguarded.

i thionk u should keep using it because due some circumstances if there is any infection in the gateway of your network it can harm your system
