Jeans are not tough enough, but I think you already knew that didn't you? I wouldn't take an R6 out on the open road in less than 1 or 2 piece full armoured leathers, back protector, proper boots, proper gloves and helmet. For year-round commuting or touring I might swap the leathers for textiles but calm down my riding accordingly.
A doctor once told me that in hospital if there are two riders go into the emergency room at the same time - one wearing leathers & all the kit and the other not, they will always treat the one wearing leathers first.
If you fall off in jeans the nurses will have to pick the individual threads of denim out of your flesh with a tweazer. They'll never get them all of course and you will be scarred for life.

Sorry GoCyber, but your tip is copmpletely idiotic. Road rash can happen at virtually any speed, remember the rug burn as a kid? How fast do you think you were going? 'Nuff said. I've had road rash from my bicycle at 20-25 MPH that took a month to heal. And to answer your question, absolutely not. If you are worried about road rash, always wear your leathers. I've never wrecked at more than 40-45, but I'd hate to see the day anyone wipes at 60+...which is nothing for your R1. Bottom line, wear your leathers everytime, or face the chance of some awful road rash.

Jeans wont help but its much better then the idiots that wear shorts. You can buy kevlar (spelling) pants that are just as good if not better then leather and have more mobility. The people on here saying slow down are wrong cause even if you fall at 25mph road rash will happen so get some protective gear.

I own a Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade, I myself like wearing jeans rather than leathers, It's a lot more comfortable. Although, if you fall you might have to pay the price for riding in comfort. The choice is yours. But try and minimize the risk and strap on some cevlar jeans with inner Padding. Very expensive but really worth it!

No. There is non-leather impact attire intended for knobby
rides but R1 asphalt huggers need the leathers. I'd suggest
the brown but most ride black as spades. Since "Kill Bill"
was aired more males feel comfy in other colored leather.

Jeans have been tested many times. Typical jeans hold up for about 5 feet sliding and then it's your skin.
There's good textile gear around for when you feel it's too hot for leathers.
Treatment for road rash is the same as for third degree burns. You REALLY, REALLY don't want to go there!!

Plain denim will not protect your skin. There are special jeans that are lined with kevlar. One company that makes them is called Dragon Jeans or something like that. I personally wear a product that is made of ballistic nylon and has padding built in. It is made by Joe Rocket. If you are a serious racer and have the money, buy the racing leathers as they will offer you the most protection in a crash.

Negative. You need to wear leathers if you think there's even a chance of dumping the bike. Concrete and tar will eat your jeans for breakfast. You may also want to have the extra padding for your elbows and knees.

I was dragged 15 feet, starting at less than 15 mph. I got road rash on my right side. My jeans didn't help.

New blue jeans are the worst thing to wear if you're going to crash. The indigo dye used to make them blue gets ground into the wound and causes infection. Once they're faded out, the infection part is reduced but you still have to heal up.
