Red meat is fine on occasion if it's lean. Eating it every day can cause all sorts of health problems - do a google search to find out. Make sure and have some veggies when eating red meat!

Because your mom believes old wives tales. (People will say stupid things like "you'll have 50 pounds of red meat in your colon by the time your 30" that have no basis in science.)

Red meat is OK as part of a balanced diet. Red meat generally has a higher fat content than say chicken without the skin or fish so should not be something you eat exclusively. However, eating lean red meat along with all the other components of a balanced diet (grains and cereals, fruits and vegetables) is not bad for you.

I don't know her reason but red meat actually takes 2 weeks to digest in your system and it is hard on the body and actually unhealthy for you . Chicken and fish are better . I do believe though that red meat is healthier then pork but don't know that one for sure .
