First off, relax! It's normal to feel nervous, whether this is your first job or your 5th. Be yourself and listen to whoever is chosen to provide your training. Ask questions, never be afraid to have someone explain what you don't understand. As for not knowing anyone, again be yourself, people will be curious about "the new guy", and will probably come to you. Just keep your cool, have fun, you're going to do well. And remember, this is your first job. If for some reason it doesn't work out, there will be others. Just remember to find something you like and enjoy doing. Good luck!

I started my first job, two years ago when i was fourteen. AH! I know how you feel! I was really not looking forward to my first day in a fast food restaurant, but I'm glad I stuck to it. My advice is to make friends at work and have as much fun as possible. In retail, it can be a lot of fun to socialize with customers too. I actually got a gig on the side for cleaning a couple's house because I always took the time to talk with them on Sunday mornings. Basically, it'll be jarring for at least a week. It's an interesting transition, but you'll definitely get the hang of it and start enjoying yourself. You'll get a feel for the job, and be able to make desicions on whatever comes your way. i wish you the best!

It's natural to be somewhat nervous when you are in any new environment. The important thing to remember is that they hired you for a reason: they needed the help and you gave them the impression that you were worthy to be hired. All positives.
If you act confident, friendly, and willing to learn, and are willing to work, you will do fine. There will be a learning curve--but managment understands that.
As for the other person you know, sometimes in different environments, people act different. It's a different dynamic. After all, that person might actually need your help some day on the job.
Hope that helps.
Good luck!

1. Wear appropriate clothes that make you look like you care.
2. Don't chew gum during the interview.
3. Don't have your iPod on (I doubt you would anyway)
4. If you wear a hat, wear it the right way.
5. Look the people in the eyes while they talk (they are more likely to hire you if you do that.)
6. Try to think through the questions they will have for you and answer them kind of quickly.
7. Bring a copy of your application.
I went through a class last year about how to nail the job interview.
Just relax, follow these tips, and don't worry about it.

Go in w/ a good attitude, keep your head up and act like you know what your doing.ignore the other person and eventually he or she will have to come around and talk to you, maybe not by choice, but that wil break the ice and maybe you will end up ok friends in the end..be strong..you go

Just be friendly to everyone and remember to smile. Politeness counts a lot. I don't mean to brown nose or kiss butt......just be a nice kid. And as for the person you know that works there that you don't really get along with, be nice to him or her while at work. You don't have to be friends but just polite. Have fun, and good luck. .....And good for you for getting a job !!!!

Don't make fun of the people buying embarrassing products and stay away from the one that you don't get along with.
