What do you think about this dog in ad?

I was sent this through a list I am on, and i wanted your opinion. Do you think this sensationalizes cruelty to animals or is it quite innocent...

warning... to me this is a disturbing advertisement! I have already emailed the product and advertising companies.

What do you think?

Update:

I hope it is animated... but it still hurts to look at.

I am in marketing and see no obvious theme to this ad. But remember, when creating an advertisement, the idea is to get a point across to the audience, and have them remember your ad. They have done their job as marketers.

Also, I don't believe this is a real dog is it? It looks animated.

More then likely dog owners are not part of their target audience. Their target appears to be similar to people who might buy mink or fur coats.

I would never buy anything mink, or fur because I feel bad for the animals. But this product is obviously being sold to a niche market and they are not concerned about those who might get offended. They have created buzz amongst those who are not even interested in marketing. This will eventually (in their minds) get around to people who might be interested in their product.

That is a ridiculous ad. The dog looks angry, and I personally would not purchase the shoes/ boots mainly because of that ad. That is the one thing I don't like about certain ads, they try making a point by doing something mean to an animal. It's like the asthma commercial where the water in the fish bowl was getting lower and lower to the point where it couldn't really breathe; thankfully they filled it up so the fish could breathe easy again. But still, it's called technology, and everyone knows how most animals will react in certain situations, so it's, in a way, pointless to do something harmful to an animal when instead you can animate it.

I think that's sick!! Honestly, what ad company would think of that, run it, and not expect people to get upset?? That is terrible.

memememe: They have NOT done their job as marketers, because the purpose of an ad is to provoke a purchase, or action on the part of the consumer. I think they've just removed the dog lover segment from their market share, I know I will NEVER buy shoes from this company.

Wow -- that's pretty bad. Can't believe any company would put an ad out there like that. What's the point? I might be a little thick right now, but what is that even supposed to mean?

there are a pair of places: a) Your community veterinarian workplace does (maximum do) have a e book with photos of canines/pets that individuals pick to sell or divulge to a great domicile. b) An advert interior the newspaper usually gets consequences... although, interior the activity of the puppy, confirm that that's to a family contributors and to no longer an business enterprise who/that experiments on animals

I think these advertisers are right up there with Comcast marketing. How is that supposed to even MEAN anything?

  • 1 decade ago

very disturbing, even if it was computer generated. i fail to see how this advertises anything but cruelty.

  • 1 decade ago

This is horrible - computer generated or not - what was Ogilvy and Exit Urban thinking? Are they that out of touch and clueless?

  • 1 decade ago

it is disturbing, not innocent. i am sure the dog did not enjoy having its paws tied up like that. horrible and cruel.

It's sickening and pathetic, I would love to take these IDIOTS to a cold place and tie them up, put their stupid shoes on them and see how they like it!!!!
