Bankruptcy question?
I'm thinking of filing for bankruptcy, and have 2 accounts I share with my mother (car & credit card). Will my filing for bankruptcy affect her? She is primary on both accounts
I'm 38 years old, married, with a 16 year old- and own my own home, moving back home is NOT an option! I have other bills besides those 2, and those are not the problem, it's other things.

You may want to resubmit the question in the law forum. Some people above didn't understand the question about whether it would affect your moms credit or not, and I'm not sure. Good luck, and I hope you get the answer you need.

if you only have 2 accts - don't even consider it - you would probably both have to file and it will affect your credit for years - get a second job, move back home or get a roommate to reduce expenses if applicable. You might be forced to file chap 13, which would still require you to pay back most of the debt anyway and your credit would still get ruined

It shouldn't impact your mom's credit but she need to keep a close eye on her credit report to dispute any reports of bankruptcy that may come up as you are both liable until you get your discharge.

if you only have 2 accounts you should look for ways to reduce your payments by speaking with your creditors.
if you have more than 2 accounts, that you own solely, then you can ask that your accounts you have with your mother be omitted from the bankruptcy...however, you would have to file for chapter 13, which is repayment....

I would strongly discourage filing BK. It's not a "wipe it all clean" kind of thing. It seems like an instant remedy, but it is not.
