Does television reflect modern society or incite what is taking place.?

Update:

And exactly will be happening in Society that doesn't include "Geezers" and Grandchildren that will be perpetrated by the parents of those children and the children of those Geezers?

I don't think it's an either / or. In many ways, television seems completely irrelevant. And I suspect it will become more irrelevant as time passes. However, I think television is implicated in moving certain things forward in society. Certainly the cult of celebrity is fostered and enhanced, if not created by television. Television is also a major contributor to the idea that buying things is what life is all about and what makes people happy. It also is implicated in the false notions of the importance of superficial appearances and the unrealistic depiction of what average people look like.

I also think that television acts as a mirror for modern society. Obviously it has to keep pace to some degree in order to maintain even a glimmer of relevance. So the mindlessness, violence and prurience is, sadly, a reflection of our world. But, again, I think that role is changing. I predict that eventually television will be pitched entirely to geezers and their grandchildren. And, as such, will be way behind in reflecting what is really going on in society.

I believe television is a vehicle for capitalism and to some extent, reflects what is going on in society. Only the most gullible beleives any of what he/she sees on the tube and only the most misdirected WANTS what TV has to offer.
