Should Edited answers be put at the bottom after editing..?

I see people answering with 1 or 2 words then taking their time with an edit to make it a big answer , just so they end up on top of the answers list..

I also see people answering with something idiotic , then waiting for the rest to elaborate , then editing their answer to include the best parts of others..

Should this be corrected by yahoo answers?

It could be done by putting the edited answer on the bottom of the list , and removing the "thumbs ups" too.

Why do you Agree / Disagree with this

Yahoo! Answers is a user-moderated site. While place-holding is a violation, it's usually "after the fact" that it is detected, so seldom is a reportable violation.

I like the idea of an edited answer being dropped down to the bottom of the list, since most people just vote for the first answer just to get the point for voting. (Rather silly if you ask me, it's just one point.) The problem arises, however, when a "first answerer" is supplied additional details by the user who asked the question that could cause an "edit" of the original answer.

Best thing is for the person who asked the question to choose the best answer, since they're the one who knows if an answer was helpful or not. This would also prevent some with multiple accounts to come back later and choose their own answer by "voting" for it from the multiple accounts.

i become happy Jozo gave us the link to work out an quite YA team supply the reason for this stressful new technique. I heavily examine the employees member's rationalization, taking catnaps whilst it grew to become painfully boring. no rely what share circumstances I heavily examine it or what share fresh catnaps I took I never understood her element, if in certainty there become one. Then right here comes Nick to maintain the day. Nick presented a superbly comprehensible reason and gave it in some distance much less words than the employees member. i'm not even beneficial the employees member become attempting to assert the comparable element Nick stated, yet whilst she become she failed miserably. on the count form of three enable's all supply a rousing hip, hip, hooray for Nick and Jozo. One, 2 3. great job!

I think you have way too much time on your hands. I've never even seen this happening.

No, I don't think it should be like that. First off, who cares. These aren't dollars, they're just points. Secondly, if someone goes back and does what you're claiming they do - looking at others' answers and then editing theirs so that it's best - that just shows that they're determined to do their best and have the most informed answer. Your idea would basically be 'punishing' them for this. Lame.

Couldn't it be that sometimes the writer thinks about something later and goes back just to tweak it, for the asker's benefit?

If Yahoo were to do what you're saying, even just identifying an answer as "edited," it would make people not want to edit, even if they realized they said something ineffectual or wrong. Keep it free and easy. Who really cares about the ratings anyway? It's just to make it more interesting, but the main goal of this place is to let people give their best advice to others who have questions. And as any good writer knows, that involves editing!

Blimey, dont get in a lather over something as trivial as that.

You wait till you see what really goes on in here, people with lots of accounts, voting for their own answer, couples asking questions and giving the partner best answer every time, some people reporting an answer thats better than yours,I could go on and on.

Ive been on here for 18 months, you really cannot get stressed with it all,I just answer questions and hope I can help others,at the same time I myself am learning things all the time, which is a bonus.

What you describe is called "Place Holding" and is a violation of the Guidelines. If caught, they could get a VN.

There needs to be a clear way to at least identify an Edited answer.

I think it should be corrected. But as their plate seems to be too full to even administer the work they've taken on with their current Terms of Use, I don't think it stands a chance of ever happening.

So I think it is, in short, a dirty cheat that will never go away.

Source(s): Seen it happen many times. Some people even type in a period or "a" just in order to post first, then do an actual answer, banking on their position as first to get winning answer. It IS a problem with the site, but one among many, unlikely to be remedied, as I say, in my opinion.

Sure, that wouldn't be good if we had people doing that, which there are, I believe you.

But, what if someone gave a bit of false information and re-wrote it? Or wanted to delete a part of the answer?

the theme came across from answers to your previous that most people don't see this site as you do. it is pretty unregulated or at best self regulated and most are happy for it to be that way.

No, they got there first. And sometimes when I add something else, its then that I write 'edit'.. regardless of whether I was 1st or not..
