Do you think our veterans are getting decent medical attention?
And are you satisfied with what our government is doing on the POW/MIA issue?
The VA hospital in our area is not good. My uncle, full of schrapnel, had a hard time getting care. My dad received something like $18 per month for long-term damage from Agent Orange while in Viet-nam.
I think they can do better than that instead of wasting taxpayer money on useless junk.

No. I think that the people who work for the VA Health care systems are some wonderful nurses and doctors. They work for less than they would make in the civilian world hospitals and they take care of us. So, in one respect you get a more concerned doctor and nurse when you are a patient there because they chose to work with veterans. That part is great and I have tremedous respect for them for working at the VA.
The problem is funding. It is a political issue and all candidates for President will tell you that they love Veterans and want to make sure that the VA is fully funded but they never do it. They get in office and find that cutting funding behind the scenes is the way they have to bahave in order to balance budgets.
No, the government of the United States does not always do what it should for veterans but young people like yourself make it work by asking questions and demanding that Senators and representatives and the President take care of the Veterans.

My dad also was affected by Agent Orange and now has stomach cancer, and he does not receive any benefits. I think the VA takes care of its people as long as you know what your doing and take advantage of the opportunities they offer. My husband was evaluated at a 30% disability when he got out of the Marine Corps and receives $500 a month as well as VocRehab so when he finished using his GI Bill to go to school, he switched to VocRehab and we are still also reimbursed for school.
