What stops YOU from using your own cup at Starbucks?

I'd actually never thought about it until a couple of months ago when i was reading somewhere where it offered a discount if you brought in your own cup.

They should definitely advertise it more, it would probably bring in more profit for them.

But I haven't really had a good cup to bring into starbucks and then have it be car friendly. But i got one for Christmas and plan to start using it more.

Great idea! Lots of people do it at Dunkies...bring their non spills or thermos bottles -- BUT Why NOT A NATIONWIDE BYO CUP campaign! As a matter of fact everyone should be doing it--companies, wherever coffee is sold. Why? Because paper cups cannot be recycled they are contaminated once they are used for food! Styro takes more than 500 years to breakdown in a landfill as does plastic! I imagine what stops most people from using their own cup is ignorance (about the waste) or just pain forgetting to bring a cup....or it's too much trouble. Maybe if they see others doing it--they will follow!

I am very disorganized and have no idea what I'm doing from one minute to the next! I have no idea I'm getting a coffee until I'm in the drive-thru. Bad excuse, as I even have Starbucks cups at home. Shame on me! LOL!

convenience, i don't want to have to bring a cup with me, and have to wash it later. usually i don't plan a trip to starbucks, i just go if i'm out and i pass one. and i don't carry cups with me normally.

if you are drinking the beverage there, you can just ask for it in a ceramic cup.

starbucks offers a 10 cent discount, which is nothing. i don't think most other coffee shops offer a discount.

Nothing...unless I just forget it. I prefer to get the discount at Starbucks.
