Miscarriage?

Ok, so i know this may sound like a very strange question, but i am being very serious, and would like the answers to be nice, and dont answer just to bash please. I am making a dr appt, but cant get in till next Thursday... I just want to know what to expect.

How long after you miscarry can you still carry the baby? What i mean is, I was told the "it will pass on its own theory" and i dont think it has because i am still gaining weight. Not to mention no period, and it has been almost 3 months since i miscarried. I know that it was a miscarriage because my sister in law is a midwife and has had 3 of them. But what i want to know is, is it unhealthy and normal for me not to have "passed" yet? What are the signs. (This is kind of gross, but there is a kind of smelly discharge?) any of this normal? What is the dr gonna have to do? Why am i still gaining weight?

PLease honest helpful answers only. Thank you.

how far along were you when you think the baby died? If you were only a few weeks, the pregnancy could have gotten reabsorbed, and you wouldn't know anything. But since you say there is a smelly discharge, that is a clue that something may be wrong, and you may have an infection, the weight gain can also be an issue of this. You can have a missed miscarriage and carry the pregnancy for a while. Next Thursday seems like a while, are you going to an OBGYN? If not, try there on Monday, and perhaps they will take you more seriously. Let us know what happened! I had a missed miscarriage myself, but we decided on an D&C because we were already grieving, and couldn't stand to wait to let it happen naturally. I've heard of people going weeks and even months, and we'd like to get trying again as soon as we can.

Sounds like either a missed miscarriage or you haven't had it all expelled from your uterus. The doctor will probably do a D&C on you to get the rest out. Also not to really gross you out but the smelly discharge is if anything the smell of death. Its gross I know but you should have been check right after you stoped bleeding so the doctor could have made sure everything came out.Good luck hunny.

Well, if you didn't bleed and the baby died in utero, then you are still carrying that baby. Sometimes the baby can be absorbed by your body or it can pass through your vagina like a heavy period. If it hasn't done anything and is still in you then you may need a D&C, where they will suck and scrape any tissue left behind. There may be other alternatives such as something that will open your cervix to let the tissue pass through.

Sounds like a 'missed abortion' which is a miscarriage that has not expelled or onlu partially expelled. You should go to the ER, they can help you. This isnt something you should let wait. You need to have a D&C - its not that bad, lasts for a short time. Good luck
