how can I remove all the transmission fluid from transmission and torque converter?

The only way to do this is with a trans flush. If you haven't had any services performed on your trans yet, change the "sump filter" first. This will give you a new internal filter, the magnet will get cleaned & the varnish can be removed. Give 2-3k then do the flush.

PS-NEVER drill out the convertor, NOT necessary for ANY reason. If you want problems you DON'T need, drill it out. If not, leave it alone!

before you start draining any fluid you must know for certain the exact type of transmission fluid your car has in it right now. There are many types. People will tell you you can use this one instead of that one,etc,etc. Well, they are wrong. If you use the wrong one you willl completely screw up your transmission. I hope you have the original owners manual for your car.

I would'nt let anyone--even a dealer--change my transmission fluid unless he was a blood relative. Most of them just put in the wrong fluid or whatever they have hanging around. Case in point: Jiffy Lube.

In the long run you are better off doing it yourself. Heres how.

Drop the pan--clean it. replace the filter. put everything back. add fluid. after that just take the plug out a few times and replace what drains out. That should get most of it. Then your good for another 100,000 miles.

You have 3 options.

1. Take to station and they can connect to trans flush machine and replace all the trans oil in transmission and torque converter.

2. Remove bottom pan from transmission and replace filter and then drill a hole in bottom of torque converter to drain out the oil. Then weld a nut where you drilled hole and screw in bolt with washer. Install pan with new gasket and fill with oil.

3. Remove transmission and torque converter and drain. You will still need to have torque converter flush to get all the oil out.

You have to remove the transmission to get all the fluid out of the torque converter as far as I know. Remove the tranny pan to get fluid out of tranny. Is there a reason you need to get fluid out of Torq. Conv.? If your just changing fluids and unless the fluid is burnt or contaminated it wont hurt to leave whats in torq. conv.

to remove all fluid from converter it must be removed and emptied, and refilled before reinstalling,(change front seal while youre at it) unless your having problems just drop the pan and change filter and be happy it's only going to cost you for 5 qts and not 12.

Just change it more often.
