Naming Question?

Why do people go by their kids middle name sometimes? Why not just make it a first name if that is the one they want to use?

Sometimes the kid's first name is the same as the father's, ie use middle name to distinguish. Other times the first name is something slightly uncommon like sebastian or whatever that is given to honor an older relative, and the middle name is more common like 'david' so dave is used. Sometimes the middle name was a compromise, ie mom wanted one name and dad wanted anther, and the parent whose preference became middle name may use it as the first. And lastly, sometimes the middle name becomes a nickname...or even the child's preference.

My mother when by her middle name

She was the last of five, and a Home birth

My grandfather and grandma would agree on a name, and my grandfather would take the child to the church, got the baptized, with another name.

My grandma, with the mother, just called her by the middle name

I go by my middle name for another reason. My father and his side always called me Mary Jean, my mom, and her side called me Jeannie. My jr year of high school, my father moved us to a school that would not let go by Mary Jean, they made me pick a name. Since I was never called Mary, I tried going by Jeannie, but they just called me Jean

So, from them, I went by M. Jean

There are two odd reasons, but both are true

I don't know. I think it is really dumb name your child something but always call them by their middle name. I agree, they should just use it as the first to save the child the hassle of having to explain that they go by their middle name to everyone.

My name is Ann Marie.....but I go by Marie.

My father LOVED the name Marie and chose it for me. He wanted my mother to choose my middle name, but she couldn't think of one that went with it. Since Marie is usually a middle name, it was hard to find one. Her middle name is Ann.....so she made my name Ann Marie.......but they called me Marie, since my dad loved it so much.

It was kind of a pain when I was a child, but due to the reason.....I didn't mind.

I THINK IT'S JUST PREFERENCE. MOST PEOPLE HAVE A NICKNAME, SO SOMETIMES IT'S THE MIDDLE NAME. MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS CALL ME BY MY MIDDLE NAME, WE CALL MY SON BY HIS MIDDLE NAME. ALMOST EVERYONE IS CALLED SOMETHING BESIDES THERE BIRTH NAME.

I knew a woman named Cambria in center college. She develop into super candy yet childrens could continuously tease her. i develop into continuously sticking up for her. She develop into under no circumstances made relaxing of for her call from what i could desire to keep in mind... especially teased for what she wore. i could desire to think of of names a lot worse then Cambria, i think of it relatively is first rate. in basic terms not something i could heavily evaluate naming my infants.
