Can someone tell me what this italian word means in English?

I am doing some translating of old engineering files from italian to english, but I don't speak italian and the word CREMAGLIERA didn't show up on the free translators online. Could anyone please help me.

    Rack and pinion

    i'm italian but i didn't know the word, either, so i searched it on italian wikipedia and then switch to english version...i hope it helps

    A rack (or dentiera) is a linear gear, or plan to auction used in mechanics to convert rotary motion into linear motion continued.

    It consists of a metal bar with teeth similar to those of the gears on one side: the rotating circular gear ago taken the teeth of the rack, and the move (or moves the group gears if it is fixed).

    The term derives from the French word crémaillère, a term that has its origins in ancient Italy, with the word cremagliera.

    The best-known use is in transport rack, where it is used as a transmission system in a large rail slope (see Trail rack also another use is restricted to openings and closures of windows mobile greenhouses. Rack system it is also used in automotive steering systems and mobile bridges used for the maintenance and renovation of buildings.

    I could only find one translation: rack. I have no idea if that's related to what you need, but I tried! :)
