Is it safe for a grown cat to drink Decaf tea ?
Every morning when I make my tea, I pour a small amount in a bowl for Carrie (my cat) . Since it's 1/2 milk & 1/2 Tea, she loves it. If I do not give her some, she drives me nuts trying to drink from my cup. Am I doing any harm to her? Note she has been doing this for 1 1/2 yrs. Thanks for any advice.

Tea is probably not good for a cat. Don't forget, cats are strict carnivores, meaning they consume animal products, but plant products (tea) you should avoid giving the cat. Some plant substances can even be toxic in cats. My kitty also looks forward to a sip of milk in the morning when I make coffee, but I wouldn't dare give her any coffee. My vet does say that milk is ok if your cat tolerates it, which all of mine have.
Source(s): Caffeine poisoning is not as common as chocolate poisoning but it is still seen occasionally. Caffeine is present in tea. - ktrbLv 61 decade ago
Milk can cause diarrhea in cats, and I'm not sure if the tannins in the tea are good for her either. I'd really recommend that you stop giving Carrie her morning cuppa.

Most likely She loves the milk, not the tea. If you give her the tea alone and she still drinks it, than I dont see that as a problem, should be fine, as long as it is caffeine free for sure. I would be more concerned about the milk. Milk is not good fo rcats digestion.
