The spanking issue...?
I wish that Yahoo Answers would create a "spanking" category, so that we wouldn't have to see this question, and the ensuing 45 answers every hour of every day....enough already!
Is it too much to ask that we all agree to disagree and then move on? Does anyone thing someone has actually changed their opinion on the issue by reading about it here?
I vote for a new category....
A "Debate" section -- now that's a wonderful idea! I like it!

I completely agree. I think we need a debate section in the pregnancy and parenting section for all of these arguments about breastfeeding vs bottle, spanking vs not, abortion vs adoption, etc. Everyone has different beliefs of how things should be, so why can't we just agree to disagree, and if we don't like a question, then don't answer it. "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all", its not that hard. Good Luck

i vote for the following categories, with just one long-running question in each, which would free up this forum considerably:
(1) is spanking child abuse/ are people who use other disciplinary methods the cause of all modern ills;
(2) how and at what age do i wean my child from the pacifier;
(3) are child leashes okay;
(4) my child is *** years old and still wets the bed ... what to do;
(5) my child has [insert serious symptom obviously requiring medical attention here]. what could be wrong with him;
(6) this kid 10-year-old kid Casey likes to jump into my arms at the swimming pool. is this a trust game?
(7) need better answers! this guy lent me this money and i didn't pay it back and he said it was okay but then he got mad and [not sure how but i can't actually remember the other details despite reading the question 100 times].

I completely agree. It's good to put your opinion out there once or twice, but when it's every few minutes "to spank or not to spank", etc. It gets a little annoying. All it becomes is a debate and a bunch of thumbs down fairies for someone not agreeing with them on whether it's child abuse or not.
When it all comes down to it, you're the parent - make your own decision. The hell with anyone else who doesn't agree.

I totally agree to agree to disagree. I wonder how we could get them to start a new category. You are right, no one will ever change their minds so lets give them the space and let them question and answer it out till their fingers turn blue. It will be like watching a ping pong match. ;-)

I MOST DEFINTALY STRONGLY AGREE WITH U BUT SPANKING IS NOT THE ANSWER BECAUSE THEY WILL GET MAD AND DO THE SAME THING AGIN JUST TO PISS U OF SO TALKING IT OUT WORKS AND GROUNDING THEM MOST DEFIANTLY WORKS AND THE PREGANACY THINGS ALL I CAN SAY IS GO 2
