Getting a facial?

Who can describe getting a facial? I want to give one as a gift to a friend. She is a very modest person, and when she sees people getting them on tv, they always have just a towel wrapped around them. I don't think she would be comfortable doing that. I've never had one either, so i'm not too helpful to her about that. Ideas please.

I work at a spa so hopefully this answers your question!

It's not like on TV, where you only wear a towel... therapists are mindful of modesty. Your friend will be asked to remove her top as a facial extends to the top of the decollete and neck area, and the top of the shoulders get light massage, but your friend could leave her bra on (preferably wear a strapless), and of course her underwear and jeans. If she doesn't want to be seen in her bra either, she will be given time to change alone in the room and get comfortable under the towels before the therapist comes back in. The room will be pleasantly heated, but a therapist uses a towel, heated blanket, or duvet for the client's comfort.

Facials are GORGEOUS (I'm actually getting one Thursday at my job, lovely!)... extremely relaxing and will benefit her skin for weeks afterwards. A lot of women don't pamper themselves, but they should, so it's wonderful you're considering it for a gift! They last typically 55 minutes (although some last longer, such as 80 minutes)

    these are the basic steps:

cleansing of the skin (she can go in with makeup on because this step will take it all off), a skin analysis from your therapist using a magnifying lamp. exfoliation and steaming of the skin so get off all the dead skin cells and open the pores, a facial and neck massage (my favorite part!), a mask for your specific skin type, toners and protective creams. You might get extractions done during the time (it's not painful, she won't even notice, it just gets rid of blackheads) and sometimes they'll send you home with samples of the products.

facials vary by what their benefits are, and their ingredients (some use seaweed, some are fruit extract based, etc), it depends on the product line! look up the spa you're thinking of going to because they'll have detailed descriptions of the specific facials and their benefits, so you can choose whats best for your friend.

On the day, your friend will fill out a questionerre about her lifestyle, her skin, etc, and she can use this time to say any concerns she may have about the facial. They will make her as comfortable as humanly possible, therapists are used to people coming in for the first time and being nervous, and they'll make it a wonderful experience.

Of course, during the facial a lot of people tend to doze off, it's deeply relaxing and you walk out looking like a million bucks! I prefer them to body massages and other treatments, because you look fresher immediately and it lasts. I highly recommend it!

Basically, you will have to strip down to your comfort level and wear a towel. Then you will lay on a bed under covers. The facial consists of a series of different products being applied to your facel, neck, and sometimes arm area in a massaging motion. Feels like heaven. It's a little awkward at first if you're not used to people touching you or being in your personal space. But they are professionals and they know what they are doing. It usually lasts about an hour, but seems a lot shorter b/c you want to stay there forever.

Well when I went I wore no make-up at all because they wash your face, scrub it, moisturize it; just about everything! You go in a dark relaxing room and they put a big light bulb infront of your face, examine your skin, get the products and start the facial!

Its really relaxing and feels so good, they massage your face! Its a perfect gift! I was a little embarrassed because I had NO MAKE UP and the light hitting my face, so she could see all my imperfections! But other then that its GREAT ;)

The spa I go to makes you change into a robe for a facial. You just lay down in a reclining chair and they do all the steps of the facial (steam, cleanse, etc) then with mine they massage my hands and put them in warm mitts while the face mask is drying. It is so worth it.

I would just like to add that she doesn't have to remove any clothing if she doesn't want to. It's recommended that the client remove their shirt and bra, so it doesn't get wet, and the aesthetician can do the shoulder massage, but she doesn't have to if she doesn't want to.

Oh, she could just wear a tank top and pull the straps down, if she feels more comfortable that way.

women folk do get facial hair, enormously in step with hormones. If it truly is new, you will possibly desire to communicate along with your loved ones well being care provider. some women folk with age tend to get chin hairs, many times while estrogen is decrease. superb advise, ask a medical individual.
