ok here it is broke down

    man is lonely and unhappy

    bored with job and life

    can't sleep

he meets tyler durden on airplane

when he gets home he finds out everything he owned is lost in a fire

so he calls tyler and moves in with him

one night tyler asks him to hit him because he has never been in a fight

    they fight and love it

slowly more and more people start fighting with them so they start a club

    fight club

no one is aloud to talk about fight club.

    its secret

    meenwhile....

tyler teaches the main character many life lessons

he teaches him to just LET GO

    and loosen up, etc

    back to fight club....

the club keeps getting bigger and bigger

tyler starts giving out homework assignments

clubs are started all over the country

almost half of the population is in a fight club but no one knows it because it is secret...

    anywho...

tyler steps things up a notch by starting PROJECT MAYHEM

which consists of many people moving into the house

and causing tons of crazy destrustions around the city

    things get out of hand

    tyler dissapears

the main character discovers tyler's plan of blowing up every credit card company in new york to set everybodies debt back to zero

he goes all over the country trying to find tyler

then finally someone calls the main character "tyler"

then we find out that "TYLER" is the main characters other personality and he suffers from multiple personality disorder

tyler is everything the main character "wanted to be"

he tries to stop the plan of blowing up all the buildings but tyler "his imaginary friend" beats him up because tyler is still very real to him even though he is not real.

he is taken to a high building to watch all the buildings explode when he shoots himself in the head, which kills tyler.

he survives and no longer has multiple personality disorder.

he doesn't get to stop the buildings from exploding but he no longer has to worry about what he might do without knowing it

    the end

    i hope that helped

p.s. what class are you taking that its required to watch fight club?? i wanna take that class!!

Source(s): i watched it last night at my birthday party. and its my favorite movie

The narrator (Edward Norton and we don't know the character's name), is living a boring, tedious life. He goes to work and comes back to the run of the mill Ikea home. He meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). You can see how they are totally opposite. On one hand, Norton is very conservative and uptight, while Pitt goes with the flow and is a little wild. Throughout the movie, we are given hints of Norton slowly loosing his mind. Insomnia, blowing up his apartment, and going to the meetings. In the end, we see that Norton simply has multiple personalities which must confront each other. Norton repressed his more violent outspoken side for for so long now that he created another personality. He shoots himself killing both figuratively, and merging them into one personality. Think of it as Norton being the angel and Pitt being the devil, and he had to kind of get a middle ground.

The Fight Club itself is probably just a way for everyday people like the narrator to let loose and get out of the social norm. I imagine many of the participants experienced similar issues as Norton.

this guy is working in a job he hates. He can't sleep properly. He has emotional problems.

In order to cope, he develops (accidentally) a split personality (brad pitt). This personality is everything he wishes he could be, free, handsom, brave, popular. So, whenever you see the two of them talking or doing anything together, it's really just the original (edward norton) doing those things by himself, talking to himself, beating himself up, pouring chemicals on his hand, making the plan to blow things up.

The girl gets confused (understandably) because one night the guy is sleeping with her, the next he's acting like he barely knows her.

He obviously can't remember what his alter ego is up to. And he doesn't realise until people start calling him 'sir' and he finds his flight stubbs, that he IS brad pitt's character.

In the end, when he shoots himself in the head, his alter ego gets 'killed'

This is him 'snapping out of it' and realising he's gone a bit mental. Which he doesn't want to be anymore, cause he's in love with Marla.

this is a movie master piece. A fantasically done movie, with an original idea.

The narrator (Edward Norton) is a nameless automobile company employee who travels to accident sites for the purposes of calculating whether or not to issue product recalls based on the likely cost of lawsuits that would be incurred otherwise. His doctor refuses to write a prescription for his insomnia, and instead recommends that he visits a support group for testicular cancer sufferers to appreciate real suffering. The narrator attends the group and is able to find catharsis, sleeping soundly without a problem. Left to right: Tyler Durden (Pitt) and the narrator (Norton) leave the bar, where Tyler asks the narrator to hit him Left to right: Tyler Durden (Pitt) and the narrator (Norton) leave the bar, where Tyler asks the narrator to hit him

During a flight for a business trip, the narrator meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a flamboyant soap salesman. When the narrator arrives home, he finds that his apartment has been destroyed by an explosion. He calls Tyler and meets him at a bar, where Tyler permits the narrator to stay at his place. Leaving the bar, Tyler asks the narrator to hit him. The narrator reluctantly complies, and the two end up enjoying a fist fight. The narrator moves in with Tyler at an abandoned house, and they continue fighting outside the bar, attracting a crowd and eventually establishing a 'fight club' in the basement. More clubs spring up around the country.

Meanwhile, the narrator's routine is again disrupted when he notices another faker, Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), whose presence at his support groups again disrupts his ability to sleep. Marla overdoses on Xanax and is rescued by Tyler Durden. The two begin a sexual relationship, and Tyler forbids the narrator from talking to Marla about him.

Eventually, Tyler's fight club grows to become Project Mayhem, which commits acts of anti-corporate vandalism in the city. The fight clubs become a network for Project Mayhem, and the narrator is left out of Tyler's activities with the project, feeling disillusioned and disturbed about their actions. Tyler and the narrator have an argument and Tyler disappears from the narrator's life.

When a member of Project Mayhem, Bob (Meat Loaf), dies on a mission, the narrator decides to take action to shut down the project. He tries to trace Tyler's steps, traveling all over the country and feeling a sense of déjà vu wherever he travels. Puzzled, he calls Marla Singer, and asks her to say his name. When she responds "Tyler Durden," he realizes the truth

well besides being the best movie ever!

Basically "edward norton" IS "brad pitt"

brad is a second personality that ed norton's brain created due to insomnia and the monotonous, boring, and pointless consumer lifestyle he had been living. It kind of teaches us to stop being lifeless drones and go change the world for the better. It tries to teach us what really matters in life.

This guy has an alter ego which is -- Brad Pitt, and he creates this thing called a "fight club" hence the title of the movie, where men battle each other.

Long story short -- the guy ends up having to fight his alter- ego.. which is brad pit.. and **spoiler*** he shoots Brad, but somehow doesn't die.. any ways... Brad dies, and the guy is now able to control his life.
