Ropa Vieja!!?
Can you make ropa vieja with beef brisket cut or do I really need the flank steak beef to make it, i don't know to much about beef cuts but I was just wondering if they are the same because they look the same to me!!

Brisket is too tough and requires long cooking times. You really need the flank steak. I wish I was coming to your house for dinner tonight!

Sure u can!! No problem!! There are tons of recipes that SPECIFY brisket (Emeril Lagasse makes his w/brisket!)--it's usually browned/caramelized all over, then after it cooks 2-3 hours w/the liquids, seasoning, etc., u shred it with a couple of forks or your own hands and put it back in the pot----i prefer it when it's cooked w/ a little white cooking wine and some chopped olives (but that's just me-i also eat cheez whiz sandwiches, so enjoy it how u like)

I usually dont eat my ropa vieja I just throw it away but I guess if you want to eat it try making it in some kind of a soup and eat it with a spoon by the way I was fixing to throw away an old shirt I'll give it to you though if your that hungry.

the flank steak is the one you need to use and i love this recipe by the way . I was first introduced to it by a girl i worked with that was cuban and her mom made it for us . wonderfull food . Love cuban sandwiches too cant have them now cause I am on a diet now .
