Dumbledore has been played by Michael Gambon since the third Harry Potter Movie.

In the first two film adaptations of the Harrry Potter series, Dumbledore was portrayed by actor Richard Harris. Following his death shortly before the release of the second film, the role was re-cast with Sir Michael Gambon, who has portrayed the character in the subsequent films; to date Dumbledore is the only major character in the film series to have been recast.
