Knots on my shins from kicking bags or hitting shin to shin?

I am sure a lot of you have experienced this. I was sparring someone last week and I went to block their kick with my shin and it hurt like hell, yes we were wearing instep shin gaurds, but they can't absorb everything. Anyway, now a week later I have a knot on my shin. I have small knots on my shin from childhood soccor and other sports but this one is a lot bigger. I was wondering if this knot will go away? What is your experience with Knots on your shin? What causes them and why do they stay? Thanks all, Best answer gets 10 points. =)

This is common on shin to shin or knee to shin collosions. It should be gone in about two weeks. You can make it go away faster by icing it every day.

Your shins should eventually toughen up if you train regularly.

Even after the toughening though, you can still get these on big collosions.

Those knots are like calluses but alot more painful. But they'll go away eventually. And the sensitivity of your shins will go down as you train more, but for now let it recover. You'll come out stronger later. Try alternating days on your striking between knees, elbows, punches, and shins. That way you aren't constantly sidelined waiting on your shins to heal. Good luck.

Everyone has knots on their shins. You had them prior to the injury but probably didn't notice.

A knot from injury is part of the healing process. It will go away if it wasn't there before.

Yes it will go away, but take it easy on that area for a while. Swelling and inflimation is part of the bodies natural healing process. If it is especially painful or the tissue is bruised, try getting some Tiger Balm. It will help with the pain and reduce the bruising. It is a part of training, in my school we call them charicter builders.

The knots will go away but you might want to be careful with the area until they do. You have damaged yourself, thus the knot, time to heal is paramount.

THat happen to me 2 years ago in a sparring match. It does hurt like a son of a gun. I never thought it would stop hurting let alone go away but it did. I'm not exactally sure when it did but it took a few months.

I don't know what causes them but I will keep my eyes open to find out

Everybody goes through it. I highly encourage you to condition them on the heavy bag. In point fighting, it's not as common to see, but in a full contact competition, the shin is what you strike your opponents yet.
