Things to keep my son occupied on the train?

I am taking a 16 hour (each way) trip on the train with my 3 and a half year old son. We will be getting a family bedroom upgrade. I need ideas on things to do and things we could take with us to keep him occupied. I have a few logical ideas like books, crayons, and I am going to try to get ahold of a portable dvd player. What ideas do you have to keep a 3 year old occupied?

I think many boys will think that a train ride is a thrill. He can look out the window. Talk to him. Explain things that you see on the trip. There will be cows, grain elevators, towns, railroad stations, other trains. You don't need a DVD player. You'll probably have at least a couple of meals in a dining car. You can sit in the coach area and just watch people on the train. And since you're getting a sleeper, a porter will be in to prepare your bed. There's will be a lot going on around him. I don't think he'll get bored.

    Take another kid.

Or a new toy. Perhaps buy 3 cheap things, but don't show him until you get on the train. When he gets bored of that, whip out the next, and so on.

bring toys bring every toys he likes i mean all kids love toys. Bring things he like. What i do is talk about things like if he's going to school ask him to tell things about school you don't know Or make him take a nap or sleep usually that's what i do or bring food.
