Whenever I do basic crunch or military press, I get neck pain?

Do you have any idea why this happens. Am I performing them wrongly?

Help appreciated!

ARE YOU DOING THEM ON THE FLOOR???? IF SO you may want to invest in AN EXERCISE BALL...that way there is less pressure on your neck!!!!

You're pulling to hard on your neck.. It's also a sign that you need to build abdominal strength.

Rest your head in your hands when you do crunches and keep your chin pointed to the ceiling... lift up by using your muscles in your stomach. Do them slow and controlled. Even try holding yourself up for a few seconds and then lowering down.

When doing stomach crunches, don't put your hands behind your neck or behind your head as this causes extra stress on the neck and also doesn't allow you to use your abdominal muscles fully. Cross your arms over your chest instead.

Yes you probably are, when you do crunches try lifting your shoulders. When come up you probably bending your head towards your chest and that's what giving you the pain the neck.

you are likly putting your hands behind your head then connecting them with your fingers, this has been proven to cause stress on the neck because when you start to struggle its natural to try to force your body up by jerking your hands, therefore your neck, forward. try putting your arms across your chest or beside your ears, dont pull them tho!

you're probably bending your neck too much.

As in putting your head too forward.

  • keep you stomach muscles tight to provide support for you back and neck.

dont jerk your head when you do it, use your abs for crunches not pulling your neck
