Classroom etiquette for college?

It's only been 2 days since classes has started for college and there is already one girl in my class that everyone is annoyed with. This girl is very opinionated and is constantly commenting loudly on the professors points. It's gotten to the point to where it's very distracting to the topic at hand. For example, we were talking about what we deem is criminal. One student made a reference to Nazis and Jews. This girl made a comment saying that "Duh, the Jews were considered criminals because if they went against the Nazis commands their @ss would be f*cking torched up in a cement block and thrown into a wooden box". I thought the comment was a little out there.

Also when she does comment on something she tends to use profanity all the time. I don't mind profanity but I think in an academic setting (especially in a class filled with juniors/seniors) you can use other descriptive words in the English dictionary to describe your feelings on something.

How do you handle people...

Update:

...people like this? I've never been in a situation where a student openly and loudly comments (sometimes a little inappropriate) on things like that and I'm a junior in college.

I think the professor can already tell that we are all sort of annoyed by this. Is it appropriate to use comment every time with profanity in college settings, especially when we are talking about strongly controversial topic (sociology/criminology course)?

What are your thoughts? I'm quite puzzled so your comments are greatly appreciated!

I've had people like that in class. Usually someone in the class puts them in their place or argues with them.

Personally I think the teacher should put a stop to crap like that.

neither "you" nor "I" handle people. It's up to the teacher to keep the classroom decorum. The teacher doesn't know you (and others?) object, so when those of who who object should mention it to the teacher. Frankly, to me, it doesn't sound like that person will stay long in the class anyway. Sometimes if we just sit back and let people have their say they get tired of hearing themself talk and will be bored and move on and you don't have to mention your thoughts to the teacher. Learn that in life nothing stays the same or stays the same forever.

I would Not make it my problem.

Let the professor handle the situation as she is insulting him.

As far as what You could do is ...

Just ignore her. Sometimes the best action is no reaction.

It could be that she is trying to get more attention with her profanities.

    Ignore her.

they have one in every class

    it's the teachers responsibility.

you could try talking to her but you might as well be talking to the wall.

you could talk to the teacher after class or drop a note under his/her door.

    anonymous note ;)

the professor should say something.. if she continues to remain off topic and innapropriate I am sure the prof will.. consider going to see the prof during office hours and say something about it..

I'd go further than "Tracker": I'd speak up in class and ask "the

teacher to...put a stop to crap like that."

Try talking to her first after class, if that does not work talk to the teacher, if that does not work talk to a dean.
