Will going 1 or 2 days without eating hurt the baby?

My nausea and morning/all day sickness has come back at 17.5 weeks and I can't eat o hold any food down. It's been more than 24 hours since I've eaten and I think I've thrown up all the liquids I consumed.

Will this hurt or affect the baby at all?

please call your doctor...it can eventually hurt the baby especially if your body does not have enough fluids....also that might make you more sick (not eating anything)....at least keep drinking stuff even if you dont hold it down just so you dont get dehydrated....

    good luck

With only two days I wouldn't worry about it, the biggest concern is going to be keeping you hydrated. That baby is going to take what it needs. I had severe morning sickness with my son the whole time and I would have to force myself to eat some days. I would say if you have gone more than 24 hours without keeping anything at all down you need to go see your doctor. They may want to put you on an IV to rehydrate and nourish you just to be on the safe side. They can make sure you aren't dehydrating etc. You may also start to feel better if they do this. I know I was re-hydrated in the hospital a couple of times and afterwards I would feel better and begin to be able to eat again gradually. Hope you feel better!

I know it's hard, but try to eat what you can. I'm 35 weeks and am still suffering from sickness so I realize it seems futile (plus it's no fun throwing up) but anything you get into you will help your baby. At this stage, it's important to keep getting a balanced diet sot hat your baby can thrive. Make sure you're taking a supplement, although you may have to change brands to one that doesn't upset your tummy. I found that herbal ones (like Jamieson) were best for reducing stomach upset. You can also call your doctor and talk to him about a prescription for Diclectin, it's an anti-nauseant just for pregnant women. I also found that Sea-Bands helped. They're little accupressure wristbands you can get at any pharmacy.

Good Luck and hang in there!

No, the baby will take all the nutrients it needs from you. Think of all the starving nations in the world, they manage to continue to reproduce! However, this will make you very tired, irritable and could cause hair thinning and your teeth to loosen over a sustained period. Try ginger, supposedly good for nausea either drink some ginger tea or eat a ginger biscuit or arrowroot is also said to help.

    Hope you feel better soon.

A lot of women have morning sickness where they can't eat or hold anything down and go on to have happy, healthy babies. Try sucking ice cubes and just sipping water. You could also get your partner to bring you a black cup of tea and a dry biscuit before you get out of bed in the morning. I had very bad morning sickness and my doctor suggested this and it worked wonders.

if you dont eat for any length of period of time esspecially a couple days yes it can hurt the baby.remember anything you take into your body affects the baby.if you dont eat the baby obviously isnt getting any nourishment.if you are eating but throwing up you are still getting nutrients into your body because you dont throw up everything even though it may seem like it.i would talk to your dr because for severe morning sickness they do have a medication you can take that wont harm the baby but will help with the sickness.

your baby will be fine, just keep checking with your doctor.

I lost over 30 pound in the first 6 months. I couldn't keep water down either. I think anything you do long term can harm the baby so report to your doctor you may need an IV to provided you with what you loosing.

no it would hurt u because the baby would take from your fats try to eat a little bit like cracker, fruit and a lot of liquids, and when you feel like you wanna throw up breath deeply and let out from your mouth it worked with me,and left your head up or lie down.congrats and good luck

  • Babies will NOT "take from your fat", they need nourishment from you eating, and it can definitely be harmful to your babe if it's prolonged. Give your prenatal doc a call and I bet they'd be able to suggest some remedies for you right over the phone.. I hesitate to suggest a solution for you as I don't know your specific situation. Good luck with your pregnancy! :)

I have heard that Gatorade will help, you at least need your fluids to stay hydrated. I would call the doctor and see if there is anything you can do!
