Have you thought of bird boxes and bird baths.we have 6 boxes on our house and have chicks every year.they are high enough so cats cants get to them.

If you have a bird table try putting straw and wool in the spring and the birds will use this for there bedding.

    hope this helps.

Plant the right kind of bushes such as: elderberry, blueberry, pyrocanthia (fire thorn), choke cherry, cranberry. Also many people believe that the birds come because of the nuts and seeds but water will draw more birds than a feeder. In the summer, wild birds do not need supplemental feeding. I do the feeding just because I like to watch them but I cut back 75% from my winter feeding. However, you will attract more birds with a birdbath with moving water. You can suspend a gallon milk jug from a tree branch. Punch some tiny holes in the jug so that water plinks in the bird bath...you will see and attract all the birds around coming for a bath and a drink. You can go the expensive route and just buy a fancy, moving water birdbath if you want. I just try and recycle things like milk jugs. So...water is the key.

we do a few things and we have several birds that come around - we put out bread crumbs for some food, have a bird bath in the garden, we have a hanging hummingbird feeder and a couple of bird houses (one hangs from a tree and one is nailed to the side of another tree)

the bird feeders that hold the seed and nuts and stuff have never worked out for us because the squirrels always take all the seed and nuts... we even bought a few different types of the guards that install over the hanging feeders and the squirrels would always figure out a way to get seed anyway

    hope this helps

Try a bowl of water with bread and honey. Most birds love it. I started doing that, and now they DEMAND it first thing in the morning. Some times the cheeky buggers come right inside the house.

The wildest birds like a nice pool to swim in and something to drink. Putting nibbles out is optional. I wouldn't recommoned trying to get wild birds in your garden this time of year though ( a jacuzzi could be ok if its covered over)..kinda cold. Get them inside and give them some mulled wine and a nice meal. Good luck!

    Provide them with nesting boxes.

Do not spray against aphids as the smaller birds will feed on these.

Use plants that will provide seed later in the season.

I am in agreement with juncogirl3's. Fill your yard with flowers and bushes that birds flock to. And water.

We turn on the sprinklers to bring the birds in during the morning hours. We sit outside with our coffee and watch the birds take a "shower". They are so cute.

Try adding a bird bath. Make sure it's located in a quiet area. Happy bird watching!

raisins, cranberries, apple slices, orange slices, and believe it or not dog and or cat kibbles. I have a Mockingbird that absolutely loves my cat and dog food. Stale bread crumbs work nicely too. Also cracked and whole kernel corn. the birds will love you for it.
