What kind of spider is this?
I'm sorry the pictures are not so well. My camera isn't designed to take real up close pics like this. This spider is a hair under an inch brownish. I don't think its a brown recluse as I don't think it has the violin designator. I live in the middle of Iowa so thats the region we're talking about.

That is quite a spider. My first guess would be a brown recluse, but you've already written that off. It could be a smaller species of wolf spider, but I really am not sure. The pictures are too blurry.
