slave family of Williams, Hill, Cooper and Shaw?
Is there anyone online who may have come from Slave families in North Carolina? My great great grandmother name was Beaty Williams who was married to Daniel Williams, they had a daugher name Rose or Rosa Williams who married a man name Ned Hill. Rose was born 5/1/1837 and died 7/6/1929 I have the death certificate. she had a sister name Percilla Hill, or (Priscilla) who was my grandfather's mother, she married someone with the last name Williams possibly (John Williams), and it's possible that she may have re-married again. The last my grandfather remember about her is that she was very sick living in Magnolia, and may have died of pneumonia, but I can't find a record of her. My grandfather is Joseph Williams (now dead) but he also, remember Priscilla's sister whom he called (Aunt Rosanna). I have more info but I will wait to see if I get a response and then I will share more info.

Here are all the strategies I can think of right now:
Post your query at genealogy message boards. (It's highly unlikely a Williams cousin would find it here, due to the question-and-answer format.) Try http://boards.rootsweb.com/ and post under surnames and under locations. Also see
http://www.cyndislist.com/queries.htm
Since her last known location was Magnolia, I would concentrate on Duplin County, NC records:
Look for Priscilla Williams' will or other court records.
Search Duplin marriage records to see if she remarried (check under Priscilla Williams and Priscilla Hill.)
Contact the Duplin County Library to see if they have an index of local obituaries.
Find these three books to see if she's listed:
"Duplin County cemetery records" by Leon H. Sikes
"Duplin County gravestone records" by Leora H. McEachern.
"Duplin County, North Carolina, Gravestone Records" by Ida Brooks Kellam
(Try worldcat.org for libraries who have these. Get books via InterLibary Loan if your library doesn't have them. Also try addall.com which has both current books and books out of print.)
Note: I noticed a thousand (almost!) ways to spell Priscilla! Use wildcards if you can. If not, be on the lookout for alternate spellings: Percella, Percilla, Pricella, Pricila, Pricilla, Pricilli, Pris, Prisceill, Priscell, Priscella, Priscill, Priscilla, Prisie, Prissell, Prissey, Prissie, Prissill, and Prissy.
See this website for overall resources for North Carolina:

That's all I can think of right now! Good luck in your searches!

I like Cooper William. It sounds cool. I don't really like Walter George. I think Walter David would have been better. I think they are good names- separate- not together What do you think of mine? Juliette Mae (1) Henry Roy (3) Isaac Dan (5) Adrian Guy (7) Lila
