Can TV recover from water inside?

I have developed a leak over an old TV on my inside front porch. I moved it out of harm's way and dried the outside. Also involved was the VCR but there are no vents on the top of it. I've set the TV in front of the heater out there hoping it will dry. Has anyone ever had a situation like this and did it still work after drying it out? I really don't think there's a lot of water in there but sometime it doesn't take much.

Update:

Gee Barry, I would have never thought of that. The guy has already been here for the roof. Had I not known enough to do that I would have asked a question about the roof. Thanks for your "input".

The key is to dry the insides as fast & completely as you can before pluging it back in.

If it were my TV (I'm asuming it's a CRT set) I'd take the back off and use a fan (or even a space heater with a fan) to speed up the drying. If you do this be sure that nothing can hit the exposed back of the picture tube and that the TV can't fall over while the back is off.

I'd open up the VCR also if there is any chance that water seeped in as is rolled off the top or back of the VCR.

i think id worry about fixing the roof before you fixed the tv

If you let it completely dry and if it was not on when it got wet then it might still work.

But the risk you take is your own.

    Good luck.
