Can I please get a Christian's explanation/perspective on how getting "angry" with God is an acceptable act?
I am in a study group at my church and every other person in the group (7 others) subscribes to the notion that, not only have they been angry with God when they experienced hardship in their life, but that it is actually a part of the growing process. I can honestly say that I have never been angry with God and I have experienced my share of hardships. In my opinion, to be angry with Him exudes an arrogance as if to say that we know better than Him what is best for us. I am looking for your personal thoughts, opinions, interpretation of scripture (but please don't just quote scripture without thought and expect that to be of any help), etc, not to justify my opinion but to understand others. ~ Thanks!
please note that my question was not asked to push a "holier than thou" attitude or to pass judgement, I just have an extremely different perspective.
When the rich man asked Jesus how to gain eternal life, Jesus responded by telling the rich man to give it all up and join Him. I believe that we have to be willing to give it all up in order to gain everything through Him. If we cannot let go of everything, despite the hardship and pain, then we obviously love it more than Him. I say all this to say that I understand that anger at the situation is a normal human/mortal response. I just don't understand directing it at Him.
I will be entering into a role where I walk spiritually with others. Knowing this, it should be obvious why I need your help.

Why would anyone justify getting angry with the Creator? Yes, it might happen with trials and stuff we go through, but i would never boast about it, I would ask forgiveness.
John 15:19-21
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
We know we are going to go through trials and tribulations, here’s the kicker. Thank God for them. Why? Couple reasons. The first is laid out above, because as His child (servant) we are not greater than Him, we know we will go through things, and this is proof we are His children. But there is something else that may make going through these things easier if you put it in perspective…..
Gold mined is rather dirty in the beginning and most people would not want it. It then goes through a cleaning process and looks better, but for the most part is unusable for many of us. It is clean, but does not yet have a lot of things it can do. So what is the next step? Melting it down. Have you ever seen gold melted down? It is brought to temperature and the impurities come to the top. They are skimmed off. Now the gold is more pure, but it still has its limitations. Why? Certain people have different uses for it and some jewelry requires an even cleaner gold than that. So it goes through the melting process again. Over and over again it does this, removing impurities and each time becoming more pure and gaining new uses each time.
We are no different. In the beginning we are a piece of gold mined, but we are so dirty with sin. God sees potential in every one of us and loves us. He doesn’t look at the outside because He knows what we can become through Him. Many people would not want us in this form, but He does. The blood of Jesus washes us clean, but we don’t have a lot of uses out in the world yet because we are young in Christ and need to be taught and humbled. Each trial we go through does that. Each trial we go through we gain experiences that we can allow God to use us for out in the field to lead others to Him. Each time He skims more of the impurities off of us making us purer and stronger. We go through these things with much woe at times, but we have to praise Him. When we feel the world is dark and gloomy because of what we go through, praise Him! He is getting you ready for something, teaching you something, or leading you where He wants you to go. All days can’t be sunny, I say Jesus bring the rain!

You're exactly right. I can honestly say that I have been angry with God, but it was due to my own ignorance. It's such a selfish act especially when it's being directed to the most selfless being ever known. I think as humans, it's a pretty natural act to be selfish. I mean we're born not knowing how to share and we have to learn that, and even then, we still have our times. I think that applies to trying to "blame" God or get angry with Him. We're selfish & we want things our way so we take it out on Him when things don't go our way. I think it's more important what you do after the fact, like repenting and realizing the ultimate truth that what God does is always in our best interest whether we like it or not. It's also the difference in levels of spiritual maturity. I'm far less likely to get angry with God now than when I was a teenager. If you've truely never been angry with God, my hats off to you! We should try to exhibit more of your example. I hope this helps a little about understanding why some may occasionally get angry with God.

All the commandments that God wants Christians to follow is already quoted in the bible. No new ones will pop up if that is what your asking. God does not "Do" commands he made them for "mankind". And for those of you that ask silly questions as about the killing of infants. The things that occurred in Biblical times is just that for those times and those people. For us it is to STUDY and LEARN from. The commandments that were created are what we are to follow in our everyday life and no there not going to change they stand as they are so don't worry about God commanding you to do some ridiculous thought you have in your head. Steve quit trying to minimize the focus to the killing of babies because of the great flood. That is not the concept behind having the great flood in the first place. And God gave people the opportunity to listen to Noah and go on the Ark but people mocked Noah and didn't believe that such a flood would occur and they didn't believe in God.

Getting angry with God is acceptable and expected but not desired. We are human and we will sometimes (or often) fail to hear, understand, or except what God tells us and respond with frustration and anger rather than acceptance. We will ultimately always fail to understand the ways of God because we are not God. We struggle to accept that we can and will understand some but never all of what God says, does, and is. It is acceptable, it is forgivable, just listen carefully and try not to do it anymore.

I don't believe that it is entirely acceptable but I will agree that it is part of the growing process.
Let's use the first Matrix film as an example.
In the film they don't free a mind once it's reached a certain age. It sometimes has difficulty letting go.
Some people sometimes find it difficult to let go and take that leap of faith and accepting that God is in complete control.
Thus when the going gets tough and they start to feel like they're losing control the easy way out is to blame God instead of letting him carry you through.
In time one will learn to have faith in the Lord as is said in 2Co 12:9
"And he said to me, My grace is enough for you, for my power is made complete in what is feeble". Most gladly, then, will I take pride in my feeble body, so that the power of Christ may be on me.

Anger is a human reaction. We all experience it at some point, whether toward God or another person or ourselves. The only anger that is not sinful is righteous anger. This is the only kind of anger ever expressed by God or Christ. Any anger we would feel at God would not be righteous because He is perfect in all His ways.
But it is normal and natural for people to be angry about situations that are out of their control. Directing our anger at God doesn't get us anywhere, but it can help us to work through our problems and issues.

I think you are quite correct.
It does happen, because we are human, BUT, it is so obviously not acceptable.
Perhaps it is because we build up our hopes and expectations, we make our little plans all out, but of course the answer comes from the Lord. And should everything come to nothing, and the disappointment builds, (the stronger the desire, the deeper the feeling) this is when the resentment springs up, which is anger.
I guess the wise sheep won't walk ahead of the shepherd.

Who said it was an acceptable act?? God hates it when people get angry at him for no reason !!! All things work together for good, the Lord knows best !! When people get angry at God, it means that they think they know the best plan. But we are the mortal ones , he is the immortal one, we are humans, he is the God. He knows the best way and if someone gets angry at God then they are being rediculous !!

I think your right but, there are so many others who have a hard time understanding, and fight everyday with earthly desires versus spiritual desires. When you put the Lord first over everything, then things start to settle out. Just try to be understanding, and not judge. Show the mercy Jesus wants from us.

We are humans angry is a human feeling. When something really bad happens you get mad at friends, parents, family and yes God. You ask God why this had to happen. God knows your heart he knows you love him and that you are upset. God is your Heavenly Father you get upset with him just as you do your father here on earth. Your Father here on earth knows you love him just as your Heavenly Father knows.
My opinion!!! Hope this helps.
