Basset Hound has boil between toes?
My Basset Hound has a boil between his toes, we've opened it and drained it but it came back, would peroxide be safe to use to clean out the sore to help it heal better?
We'de like any ideas before throwing $200+ to the vet.

Bassets are prone to interdigital cysts.
Please consult with your vet.

Yep, clean it out and make sure it stays open for at least 36 hours or so. Put some HP on a Q Tip and stick it in the boil, if you can but most important is to keep it open and draining. Wash it off a couple of times a day to keep it clean as well. Hope this helps!!! DOGS RULE!!

Our girl had interdigital cysts. The vet gave us some oral antibiotics and that seems to have done the trick. She is A LOT happier.
Get to the vet - it's not that expensive, and is worth it because the cysts can be very painful for the dog (not to mention they make handling feet for things like nail trimming a really painful experience for the dog).

Peroxide is good for cleaning it, followed by an antibiotic ointment. The trick is to keep him from licking the ointment off his paw. He may need oral antibiotics, which means a trip to the vet. Glad I don't live wherever you do -- that vet visit would cost about $45 in my area.
