Have any Nascar drivers won the Daytona 500 in their rookie year?

No rookies have ever won the Daytona 500. A lot of rookie pole sitters, but no rookie has never won the Great American Race.

I believe that Trevor Bayne was a rookie when he won the Daytona 500 in 2011, the youngest to win the race at that time.

No Winners in the Modern Era.

Jeff Green was not a rookie however was his first full-time season in 2003 sat on the pole.

Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick started 1-2 in 2002, taking the front row for their first attempt at the Daytona 500.

Lee Petty won the first Daytona but Im not sure if it counts as a rookie.

Ryan Newman won the pole his rookies season at Daytona.

Thats a good question. Without looking anything up & guessing off the top of my head. I don't think Mario Andretti was a rookie when he won it in the 60's. I know rookies have won the pole. Loy Allen & Mike Skinner. But I don't think any have won the race.

Going bu Memory Fred Lorenzen won it 65 I cant remember if he ran a full season in 1964 I know he drove the #28 1964 Ford Galaxie-------Mario Andretti won it in 1967--again I cant remember if Mario ran the full season in 1966 But I doubt it because of his other racing in other series--I know he Drove a 1966 Ford Fairlaine #11 !!!!!!

Tony Stewart took the pole in his rookie year, didn't win it though.

I don't think any have. Scott Wimmer finished 3rd in 2004 but that's the closest I remember.

Cale Yearborough or Bobby Allison...I can't remember.
