We didn't have a registry, but even though each of us had been out on our own for a while, we really appreciated the practical items from the shower - new towels (like luxurious bathsheets which we probably wouldn't have bought ourselves), sheet sets (and yes, friends called to find out what size bed), real Tupperware, roasters, casserole dishes, cookbooks, handmade pottery was really cool, - ah, we got so many lovely gifts!

The registry is there as a tool, so use it that way. Find something small and extremely useful on the registry. Then supplement it with some sort of personalized gift for the couple. For example, my friends got married at Disneyworld, so I gave them the blender they wanted, and a small statue of Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Wedding clothes from Hallmark.

Combine good sense with your own personal knowledge of them, and I'm sure they'll love it!

I would recommend finding something small on the registry and buy that. Or buy a combination of small gifts. This is a bridal shower, so your gift shouldn't be extravagant. The nicer present is given for the wedding present. For example, you could get her a set of fancy napkins and/or rings for the shower and for the wedding gift get her a place setting of her china. But most importantly, buy within your budget!

I love to cook, so I was happy to get the kitchen items on my registry. Most of the other brides I talked to when I was making my registry snuck something on their that was just for them. For one wedding I went to, it was a pink hairdryer (don't think the groom will be using that!). If I were you, I'd look for that! Chances are she'll be delighted to get it.

My favorite wedding gift was something that I never would've thought about putting on my list and I wanted to know what I was going to do with it when we opened it. It's like one of those pizza hotbags that the delivery boys carry..has two handles on the top and we use it all the time. I take him food at work; he brings me food at work; use it for potlucks, whatever, but I love it!

I personally really wanted a new vacuum because mine is like 15 years old and smells like burning rubber. Besides that, anything of our dishes. I ADORE the dishes we chose, and I can't wait to eat off them every day! They're so cheerful. Honestly, I really wanted everything I registered for, and I'm sure every bride does that, so I'm sure anything you get her will be well appreciated.

How well off are they. If they are not well off and will have a small place the smaller the item the better.

Usually women want bath towels or silver wear. Mainly common household items. Or sleeping gowns.
