Can US citizen buy a home for retirement in San Luis Potosi?
I employed a guy from there who told me that I should buy a home there now for later retirement. What do you think? Anothor fellow said Aguas Calientes was the place to go.

The other two answers are partially correct but misleading. Yes you can buy property in Mexico but don't be in a hurry. Visit various areas, rent for a few months in each, check the culture, climate, amenities ... and then decide.
Mexico is a great place but not for everyone

Yes, you can, it will be easier for you once you buy it to quickly establish your residency because you will be given a huge hastle if you want to do paperwork (sell, transfer, etc.) and will be charged even more if you are not a resident. Either state is fine - I chose Nuevo Leon because it is closer to the US... it's all up to you!
