My baby has died at 6 weeks, Does D&C hurt?

I'm so sorry for your loss.

When they do a D & C they normally knock you out or they can give a twilight anaesthetic. After the procedure you will bleed like with a period. There should be no sharp pain, there may be mild cramping.

I'm sure they will tell you again before they do anything so please don't worry. It is a very simple procedure with minimal risks.

Grieve for your lost baby but don't give up. You will be able to fall pregnant again.

You will be given a general anaesthetic so you won't feel a thing through the procedure. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes. When you wake up you may have cramps and there will be some bleeding. You can bleed for up to 2 weeks after the d&c.

I had the same exact thing happen to be. I had a missed miscarriage the baby stops growing but your body still thinks your pregnant and doesn't miscarry the baby. I found out at 14weeks that the baby stopped growing at 7weeks. I was put to sleep while I got an D&E they even gave me medicine in my iv to help me relax...I was crying and after they gave me the medicine I was acutally feeling loopy and laughing.

After the D&E you can have period cramps and some clots

They put you to sleep and they dialate you to 5 and they put the little suckie thing in you and take the baby out.It doesn't hurt at all.I had one done and believe me I was afraid too.I lost my baby at 7 weeks.They told me that I would bleed for a few days which you might but I didn't.Good luck hunny I know this is a really hard thing to do.I cried when I went in and I cried when I woke up after the surgery.Its a hard thing to do but you will make it.

Sorry for your loss. I went through the same thing. They basically just need to remove tissue from your uterus. It's general anesthesia and it doesn't hurt at all. It's over with quickly. There's no scarring or pain the next day. Getting over this emotionally is the tough part.. Good luck and don't worry.

I'm not sure about the D&C but I am so sorry to hear about the death of your baby. You poor thing. Why don't you call the nurse and ask about the procedure now. Tell them you were too upset at the time to take any of it in and you would like them to run through it with you again.

It hurts a little bit after but not too much. They way that they told me is that they go in and pretty much suck everything out. They gave me some pain killers and I was fine.
