first you need a com denoinator for 1/3=20/60

1/4=15/60 and 15=12/60 then you add them all together

and you get 47/60 which is the part she has spent.

Then divide 60 by 47 and you get 78 1/3% she has spent.

    so $65000=21 2/3% =30,000

what you can do is set an equation

You can represent the initial amount of money with X

    X- ( (1/3)X+ (1/4)X + (1/5)X)) = 6500

    this equation says:

Initial money - ( 1/3 money plus 1/4 money + 1/5 money) will equal the final amount

solving for the equation, you will get 13X/ 60=6500

solve for X and you will get that initial amount of money is $30000.00

Hope this is clear and it was helpful. :)

    1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5

    lowest commen denominator is 3x4x5=60

    you get

    20 + 15 + 12

    _____________________ = 47/60

    60

therfore 6500 is 13/60 of the full amount

    6500/13 = 216 2/3 multipied by 60

    = 13000 evenly

In order to solve this, i find it easier to convert the fractions into decimals.

    1/3 = .3333

    1/4 = .25

    1/5 = .20

You would divide the numbers into $6500. So:

6500/.3333 = 19501.9501 (round this number to become 19502) then divide this number by .25 and get 78008. Then divide this number by .2 and you would get $390040. and that is your answer $390040
