If you have a HD tv, why do you have to pay for HD programming??
I truly don't understand why do I have to pay for HD programming but all the newest televisions and the times says, get a HD tv.

you have to pay extra because it is an extra feature. you don't need to have hd channels to watch your hdtv though, the picture is just a lot better when you get the hd channels. so basically you are just paying for clearer pictures. hope it helps.

The tv can show HD but you need a source to send it to the tv. Just like the tv can play dvds but you need a dvd player. It does sound complicated, but in feb next year the normal tv i going to be cut of this will pave the way for HD channels. The companies that broadcast HD channels are jumping on the bandwagon as they know there is a demand at the mo.

You dont have to pay for HD channels. You can buy a pair of rabbit ears and get local cahnnels in HD if you klive within 20 miles or so from the broadcasting antenna.

HD Programming is no different than standard programming.
Local channels = free with an antenna
other channels = pay. just like you pay for your standard cable or Sat package now.

I have one and don't have HD programming. Its just that with the programing the picture will be better. Mine is fine
