Appendics, how long do you stay in hospital after the operation?
Hearing different stories, even from the medical team, what's your experience?

If the appendix was removed by keyhole surgery, you would expect to be discharged 24-48 hours post-op. If there are complications such as peritonitis, this would odviously prolong the stay.

I had mine removed when I was 18 and was in hospital for just less than a week. It really depends on how you feel and how soon your body returns to normal (toilet habits!). I think the surgeons do the operation by keyhole now so the process is quicker, cleaner and easier to recover from.
If you're the one having the operation then please don't worry, you'll be fine. You know you can even ask for the wee guys as a souvenir and most surgeons are happy to oblige? Just a thought. Take care xx.

It all depends on how you react to the operation, if there are any complications etc.
Many patients are discharged from the hospital within 24 hours after the appendectomy. Others may require a longer stay, from three to five days. Almost all patients are back to their normal activities within three weeks.

Last July a 7 year old boy in my family had it and stayed over night is all.
It really depends if there are any complications or not.

depends on a lot of things - including age. Kids recover quicker - for an adult you're looking at a 3 day stay if there are no complications.
